This may be true because I heard this from a few other people but they were all just guessing.I always thought these functioned as a sort of drip-edge (to redirect water). But maybe that's just something I made up in my imagination...

I am making the gun port lids right now.Beautiful build and have enjoyed your level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and solutions to fabrication at this scale. With that said, do you have intentions of installing deck hull scuppers? I believe at this scale, it will add another level of realism.

I think Rigol is old English for Gutter.The English called them rigols to keep water diverted away from the port but theirs were made of wood. Those on the USS Constitution today can be seen below.

Thank you for your encouraging comment.I am currently finishing my first wooden ship model build from an old Mamoli kit of Constitution. Totally blown away by the standard of your scratch build. You are setting a standard of modelling work for the rest of us to aspire to.
