Victory Models Kit Revenge 1577 Race Built Galleon scale 1/64

Here are three photos of the first half of the hull second or finish layer of planking. The first two show the planking unfinished. The plan set calls for applying a white paint to simulate the "white stuff" anti-fouling coating of the period. So I started with the first coat at the waterline. The photo still has the tape on so it looks a bit messy still. I decided to stain the planking from the white paint up to the lower wale a darker tone to provide separating contrast to the planking above the wale to the bulwarks which will remain the natural color of the planking (note the first two photos). So we are progressing...now to start all over again on the other side of the hull. Once both sides of the hull are planked I will apply several more coats of white before I move on. From the plan set the next step is the rudder assembly...

Beautiful so far! I love it!

I am progressing bit by bit. I had a few gaps in my modelling time the last few months due to honey-do projects around the house and travel. But I have started the rigging with the lower Main mast shrouds. Rigging always seems like a slow tedious process. I don't want to bore you with repeat photos so I will add these few sample photos of the lower Main mast shrouds. I use a spacing rig for the deadeyes. Just a piece of strip wood with two pins at the needed distance to line up the deadeyes as I wrap the shrouds to the upper deadeye. Then when I lace the deadeyes together and pull them taught they usually line up together. At least pretty close. :)

Hi Daniel, It looks a very nice well built model, I like it. I too go with what I like and am not interested in absolute historical accuracy, it offends some but dogma often spoils the enjoyment of building a nice to look at model.
Yeah...but my edit above confesses to this being a mistake I tried to hide! I redid the offending deadeyes.
