I applied the first layer of tung oil to the waterline. After a couple of days, two more layers will need to be added and polished until a durable film forms.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! It's true that in Russia we celebrate Christmas according to the Orthodox calendar on January 7, but nevertheless we already have a festive mood, including at the shipyard).



And outside we have Siberian frosts of -31 Celsius. But it's warm at home and the pre-holiday rush. We decorated the Christmas tree and are preparing gifts for our grandson with Christmas melodies).

I finally sanded the body with steel wool. And he started fencing the galleries. Perhaps the most difficult and painstaking work in the stern area.

The holidays were busy. We spent a lot of time together with my grandson, who came to stay. But in the meantime, I almost finished the work on the stern, with the exception of the gun ports and the rudder.





Not everything turned out perfectly. Nevertheless, perhaps the most difficult and painstaking part of the work on building the model is behind us. Unless there are minor difficulties on the bow of the sailboat.

I imitated the gilding with liquid potala. It's something like gold leaf, only in powder form on a liquid binder. I doubt that this particular information will be useful to you, since I bought it in a Russian online store. But you can look for something like this in your art stores.
