I used an airbrush and Alclad Laquers. You spray on their gloss black base coat, let that dry and then spray on their Pale Gold color. They have a gloss clear you can spray on as well to protect it but I didn’t go that far. Any mars or faded spots where the glue was added were touched up with a Krylon Gold Leafing Marker, which in itself looks phenomenal as far as golds go. Almost an exact match to the Alclad.Stunning vessel, how did you get the gold to look so goldy?
I did not airbrush the blue. It was easier just to brush it on and it levels very well. I used Vallejo Ultramarine Blue.nunfried. did you also airbrush the blue? If so, did you use a base coat?
Have you tried modelexpo out of the USA?Can anyone point me in the direction to purchase some small brass eye pins and small black nails to put on the cannon bay doors?
Awesome! ThanksHave you tried modelexpo out of the USA?
They do look a little malnourished!Looking at the stern pics, it's just me or ZHL did the horses on a diet?
The source is a walkaround of tanneron model: https://www.modelships.de/Museums_and_replicas/Musee_de_la_Marine_Paris/Photos_Soleil_Royal.htm
that explain why the part's taking so much time to arrive.Just an update on ZHL support. I got an email from Max and it seems he is trying his best to communicate. I think China has their hands in things involving google and I’m seeing some sites saying Gmail is blocked completely over there. I want to redact any negative statements I have said if this is the case. I feel bad for the guy if this is true.View attachment 346640
Sapele is the same as mahogany in more than just appearance. It's very coarse grained and likes to break instead of bend, even when wetted and steamed by application of heat. You might want to try buying some sticks of cherry and a local hobby store to replace the sapele for those sections. Cherry is fine grained and can be bent with less risk of breakage, and since it usually has reddish brown or tan color, it is easy to stain and oil it to match the sapele.I’ve started on the fencing. Bending the curved pieces at the end of each set of handrails was a nightmare. Sapele does not want to bend at that radius. View attachment 346660View attachment 346662View attachment 346661
I believe I’m going to go for sails as well. I ordered the sails pack from ZHL as wellBeautiful nunfried. Looking forward to ship with masts and rigging. Will you put sails on it?
