Model Shipways RATTLESNAKE

Took a break from masts and spars and built the longboat. Didn't like the one from the kit so got a mini kit for the Falkonet F0106 6 oared boat. Instructions were in Russian but found a Youtube video of a build. Also in Russian but very good video in 4 parts. It made all a difference in the world. A must see if you intend to build most of kits in this line. Here is the link to the build

Lashed down the longboat this morning. I was not happy with the Quarterdeck so ripped out the windless and replaced with aftermarket wooden model. Should I add the poles? Didn't like the binnacle either so did aftermarket here also. However the scale was not to my liking so replaced it with the cast one provided with the kit. The tiller looked lonely and this needed to be changed so after searching the web found a good setup using a ships wheel. Now I'm 90% happy with the QD.

It is looking amazing.
Is this really working? I mean can you steer the rudder?

Whats the link to his new build?

Having a lot of trouble deciphering the plans. Good thing I'm not a stickler for historic accuracy. When I can't figure something out I have to wing it. Still I'm happy with the result so far and my family doesn't know port from starboard so I'm safe. I'll start working to complete the bowsprit and then I think it will be time for running rigging.

Many time we find out the kit has poor quality parts and we must replace or build new items from scratch to get a good model, just our way of life.

Next time I'll just look at the parts list and order what's needed from the start. Still learning and a long way to go.
