Ingermanland 1715 (2014) * Shi Cheng * 1:50 Scale

Det går veldig bra, takk for at du spør! På grunn av ferien har jeg ikke jobbet med den så mye jeg vil. Kanskje snart begynner jeg å plankere skroget med det andre laget av planke

ENG Translation: It goes very well, thanks for asking! Because of the holiday, I have not worked with it as much as I want. Perhaps soon I begin to plan the hull with the other layer of planks

And you guys didn't think I'd be back! :p

Well, after reading up on planking, looking at photos, and worrying about the dreaded garboard plank, I took the plunge last week and gave it my best shot...and I was happy with it :D
So, this week I began laying down the second layer of planking and I have to say that I've been enjoying this step. I do have some concerns regarding the wales, and how they will meet the hull planking, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. For now, I'm just going to have a great time working my way up the hull a bit ;)
I did make a minor mistake when laying down the planks next to the garboard, but I'm still really pleased with the outcome. This is really fun, and as long as there are no big mistakes, I'm good

i noticed you said it was difficult to plank the deck with the framing in place, could you have planked the outer parts of the deck before installing them to make it easier? Would they still fit and allow you to frame between the ribs if you did them first?

Hello my name is Lynn
I’m also building the Ingermanland
I wonder if you could help me out. My kit is missing the main running rigging rope part #X302. Could you tell me the diameter of this thread please so I can order some from different suppliers.
Thank you. LWood

I too, did not receive any "Rope" tagged as X302, unfortunately, but I'm somehow under the belief that this rope needs to be fabricated using an existing "Wire" within the kit. I remember looking into purchasing a wrapping tool to assist the twisting of the line.

I hope this helps, and best of luck to you!

No, not the way the bulkheads are cut. But no matter, the deck went much faster than the hull. The hull is really slow, and with not much time to dedicate to my build, it seems as if it will take a lifetime to finish planking. But I remain optimistic

Nice to hear from you, Maarten!
When I get more done, I will post more photos. Really, the only BIG accomplishment that I have done is I have almost completely planked past the canon ports, and installed the aft portion of the cabin(?). And although I feel that things didn't really work out the way I had hoped, everyone that sees the ship really likes it, so I have that going for me  ROTF
