Trident Model - New Kit HMS Alert - List of members which are interested to buy the kit

Hi,
Can you add me to the list to buy the HMS Alert 1777 kit please?
Looks a great kit - puts the traditional European kit makers to shame, still selling the same old POF kits developed 30 years ago!

Andrew
Hallo and welcome to the group of active SOS-members.
I am very happy, that you are interested in this kit.
Nevertheless I want to comment your last sentence.
You are right, that such actual POF-kits (Plank-On-Frame) from China are of very high quality and the latest state of the art. You can not really compare these kits to older European kits, because there were no (as I know) produced POF-kits, but only POB (Plank-On-Bulkhead).
"Traditional" european manufacturers (I guess you mean f.e. Mantua, Billing, Corel etc.) are still partly selling older kits, in the same content like from the beginning of their release. But in moment we do not know, if Trident Models will sell the same kit of the Alert maybe still in 30 years..... ;)
But there are others, more modern european manufacturer producing also very interesting and high quality kits - these are mainly POB-constructions. to mention here only f.e Master Korabel, Victory Models, MarisStella, Kolderstock etc.

Sorry I meant POB (Plank-on-bulkhead) kits from the likes of Coral, Mantua/Sergal, etc. [which you corrected pointed out] which have been on the market for the last 20-30 years. Although they can make beautiful models, it requires a lot of skill and patience since the building instructions were minimal and apart from the cut-out bulkheads and generic fittings, everything else had to be built and cut from the strip wood provided.
I expect the number of models finally completed compared to kits sold is quite low!
They don't seem to keep up with the times, and still sell these "traditional" kits which are not cheap. I assume any development costs have now been paid off long ago, so apart few the cost of producing the kit & wood, they turn a good profit!

It's exciting to see the new products now being developed for the market using the latest CAD software, and CNC or laser cutting techniques. With full photo building instructions to help you see how to build the model and what is expected, it should increase the number of ship models built from such kits - which can old be good for our hobby!?

It's good to have new blood out there (new manufacturer's) as I'm working on an old Mamoli victory. Even though I bought it about 7 yrs ago, it's quite obvious by the instructions and wood that's it's been around quite a while. From now on, I will always do a little more research (now due to knowledge of the internet) b4 I put up money for a model.

Thank you for the inquiry, Kurt. Trident's website is under test now (as far as we are aware). Until then, all transactions maintained by the direct bank. Trident has the list of members and processes 5 members in time. It does work!!

I am interested in getting the kit. Based on what I have read, it may take some months for the names at the end of the list to be contacted for payment??? That would work for me as I would not need it until late this year or early the next year.
Thank you.
