Statenjacht PEGASUS circa 1700 [COMPLETED BUILD]

I agree with everyone else...she is coming together very well, and looking excellent! I really like the new dolphins...no offense of course, but they are more accurate. ;)
And the carvings really make a big difference. Keep up the good work!

Hi Dean ... thank you for stopping by and thank you for the comments. Dolphins are more similar to the ones on the Utrecht Statenjacht and I owe that to Mike Shanks and his computer skills and managing of CNC equipment. He did a 3D carving with a 3-axis CNC. Not a simple task. You have to see all the other carvings he does for different modelers. They are amazing.

Concerning "accuracy" , as you mention, you are correct. They are more accurate than the ones I did. They are 2 mm shorter. But much bigger than the 1:50 of the Utrecht plans. Not to many things on this ship are on a 1:50 scale, independently that the kit state that and use the 1:50 Utrecht plans as reference for its built. A similar comment was said buy another modeler in a different forum . I placed the "real ones " (a cut paper copy" and my wife said " they looks like a very little bug....horrible". That was true see the pictures. Then Mike did the Dolphins to the size I requested.

Again, thank you for your comments and likes !!!

Cheers
Daniel

Beautiful, Daniel! Love the blocks and rope. Was rope part of the kit? And I extended my vocabulary by a new word - leeboard. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Gennaro !!!

Rope wasn't part of the kit.

The kit included : Frames, keel, leeboards, windlass, beams, hull planking wood strips, pre-shaped mast's and all the carvings, including the deck details with carvings on it.

It is a bare bone ship and the price is dictated by the high quality carvings.

Because of that, you will see that there isn't 2 identical or similar Pegasus built.

It is fully open to the skills and desires of the modeler how to build it and its content. Also offers the freedom that this Statenjacht never existed. So the modeler isn't attached to a specific historic build.

Bottom line, beside those few parts provided with the kit, all the rest is scratch building

The rope you see in my pictures I got it from Amazon.

Cheers
Daniel

Well, that's a fancy windlass. Great job you've done here, Daniel. Do you intend to rig her?

Thank you Gennaro!!!

No, I do not plan to rig this model. It isn't a difficult one to rig, but is a task concerning this hobby that I do not like at all. This model is soo dressed with all the carvings that rigging it will not add anything more than complications..... for me !!!! :)

Cheers
Daniel
