Friech Boeir Yacht "SPERWER" by Kortes -1:30 scale [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hi Alexander,

Yesterday I was in the Zuiderzee museum and took some pictures. Especially the history of this yacht is interesting as the second owner was the guy on who the caracter of James Bond was based. So don't know if you build in some gadgets;).

See below.

My greetings, dear Maarten,
I'm very glad that you had an opportunity to visit this spectacular museum and to see the showpieces. Your photos are great, and took from different angles, I think this will help the other modelists who have chosen to work on this yacht. Since my work is already finished, I can't redo anything. Now, Im searching for the next ship that I'd like to build.
My best regards, Alexander.

Hallo Alexander alias @Kortes
- just remembered and came across this informative building log of the amazing model of your Sperwer, and remembered also your great La Jacinthe, which you also showed us here in the forum.
Do you work on a new project in the meantime?
Would be great to see your actual build in a building log - we are missing your informative progress reports and your work......

Greetings, dear Uve, I started working on a new project, I'll try to build a brig. For the moment I'm working on the hull. I dont have much to show right now, I'll make some more and post on the work accomplished .
My best regards, Alexander .
Hallo Alexander,
good to hear that you are fine and already working on a new project.
"dont have much to show" is relative - also this work is interesting to see, so we hope, that you start the new building log as soon as possible.
We would not like to miss this project ........ and also to learn from your workmanship
We are looking forward

I used plastic film for calking. I used this method when i was building "Carolina". All that one needs for this can be found in any stationary shop.
Plastic bag for paper (they can be found in different colors and thickness) and two sides adhesive duct tape. I
use the balck side of the plastic bag. I put the duct tape on plastic fim and cut it in stripes according to the thickness of the batten,
it can be made with a small margin, then I separate
protective paper from the strip and stick on the end of the batten, the allowances are cut off with the knife, - it's cutting off nicely.
Here are several photos, maybe they can be of use to somebody. If you have any questions - it would be my pleasure to help.

My old brain is confused by what you talk about as a plastic bag. Looking at what you are cutting it looks more like a report cover by how flat it appears to be. I think that the caulking width/thickness depends upon the scale of the model. Thanks for your clarification. Your work looks very well done and precise. Good job. PT-2

After admiring your spectacular work I am at a crossroads. At the ripe old age of 81 shall I continue with the full realization that I will never reach your skill level ? Or, just keep admiring the build logs. I am currently completing a mid section of "Victory" which I started 50 years ago. For what it is worth the avatar is one of my wood turnings.
Thanks again

just might get to do that. By the way, I lived in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn until I enlisted in the Army , 1961.

Dear Madhatter , thank you so much for such a high evaluation of my work. I would like to say , that I always and constantly learn from tge outstanding masters who are exhibited on our forum . I have to say that many of their works and the its quality are unattainable for me. That's one of the points of our interaction - to learn from each other . I wish you inspiration in Your work , my very best regards, Alexander

Trabajas muy bien y muy fino, los herrajes son una, maravilla y mucha paciencia y el tablazon está perfecto, muy buen trabajo me gustan los modelistas que trabajan hasta el mínimo detalle un saludo

google translation:
You work very well and very fine, the fittings are one, wonder and a lot of patience and the tablazon is perfect, very good work I like the modelers who work down to the smallest detail.

Excellent clean work. I'm interested in what kind of wood finishes you used on it. Oil ? Wax ? just one or several finishes ?

At this point my work on the “SPERWER” has come to an end.
I really like this ship, and I have to say that I have really enjoyed working on it.
I would like to express my gratitude to my friends and colleagues, who showed interest in my work, for your reviews and comments and advices, that helped me a lot in my work.
My best regards, Alexander.
I too greatly like this model with the harmonious wood tones, clean detailing, and very well done sails set in the wind. Eye candy to be savored. Rich (PT-2)
