Covid19 is a bitch, a lot of People get into problems by the guidlines
Hi Stephan. Yes, that is why the Chinese government is not taking any chances. And if they say close ... you close ...

Here in USA looks like we go backwards. It will be VERY difficult to achieve herd immunity. A big proportion of USA population don't want to be vaccinated. And the Delta guy is stronger each day among unvaccinated and of course hits the vaccinated too. Too much virus levels going around and no vaccine is 100% effective. So I went back to all my protective living style.

Oh well.... it is what it is.

Take care and try to see the positive side. Probably more time with Ana and the hobby.

Cheers
Daniel

Well a small good side of more getting Covid-19 is once you get it, and recover, your now part of the heard!

Most government sources only count those who got shots, not the total of vaccinated and infected who now have immunity.

Yes guys, that is something I don't envy you. Freedom of choice is a good thing I suppose, but when dealing with a national health issue, that is exactly what it is - it is a NATIONAL issue. It must be extremely difficult for any government to make educated decisions if they have to deal with so many variables. The results they are getting are never the same because the measuring methods seem to differ so vastly. It hasn't taken our teaching centre long to switch over to online teaching - in four hours' time classes will already be starting.

And with the national COVID variant, here in Oregon the hospitals do not have to have all of their employees vaccinated????? My wife had to go into one this morning for some internal investigation of her heart and the check-in woman said she was not vaccinated when we asked; and I found out that the primary assistant to the cardiologist on his own told my wife that he was not vaccinated!!! I guess they think that our "herd" vaccinations will protect them. We don't want to see them stricken but I would have to take a second measure of my own reaction if I found out that they had contracted the variant. Rich

Freedom of choice is a great thing, unless you’re surrounded by idiots!!! :p
Each state has their own laws…so with federal laws that apply across the nation, and state laws that differ from state to state…you have many variables, depending where you live. Furthermore…each city has a mayor, the state has a governer …so…you can imagine how hard it is to get everyone on the same page!
I have never stopped taking precautions, I wear a mask around others, wash my hands frequently and we don’t eat out. I do miss going out to eat at restaurant’s. But we most likely eat healthier cooking our own meals. We order everything online, we don’t go to stores. I feel like a recluse! And I already see a trend for online purchases, people putting up playgrounds and putting in pools in their backyards. And that’s because less people are willing to travel and use mass transit. So that is also why a lot of businesses have tried to adapt, and many are closing store locations and opting to sell online. Most all restaurants deliver now, as there is diminished eat in capacity. Anyway, I could go on all day, but you get the idea! The world we live in has changed, and I don’t think it will ever be the same again!

Your closing sentence is in full agreement with out own. I' glad to have had my formative years up to 16 in Montana, Big Sky Country where the range was free and folks conservative and in agreement with those bounds. Just my own recollections. Rich

Gents you make so many valid points. Yes, Rich, it is just crazy to think that hospital staff members and doctors are not vaccinated. It does make nonsense of the whole situation.

Dean, you mention that pools are going up in backyards etc. - we had exactly phenomenon in South Africa. Originally though, ours was not caused by Covid but was necessitated by the lack of personal safety when going out. People have turned their homes into luxurious castles which double as fortresses.

And about the world never being the same again ... Alas ... my friends ... alas ....

It’s pretty much back to normal in Texas.

Today on the news:

(My last posting on this topic to avoid going more out of ship modeling chat)

Daniel
Hence the reason I still take all precautions! This is not over!

Interesting noting the differences between the two ships.
Very different Vic. Apart from the obvious differences, is also the choice of wood and the wood color - the Pear of the sampan as opposed to the walnut of the Haarlem. The exposed portions of the Haarlem's wood has not received any finish as yet - it is just the bare wood. In daylight and as the tung oil is being absorbed by the wood, the sampan just gets more of a more red-honey colour (I don't even know if there's such a thing ROTF ).
