Le Soleil Royal ZHL Build Log [COMPLETED BUILD]

That big "ornamental" fish anchor.....ugh.....I'd like to replace that. Anyone have any ideas?

I'll try to help you.First I'll ask you if the decor is made of resin or metal? If made of resin, the task is simplified.I just cut out the whole decor separately from the general piece.I hope this is clearly visible in the photo.Next, I advise you to fill the upper and lower parts with scraps of slats on glue.Where there will be an open balcony, I cut off these lintels. But only after gluing in place.then it is necessary to sheathe the flooring of the upper and lower tiers of balconies.I don't know if you'll understand me through a Google translator.I will also advise you to put consoles under the flooring of balconies to support platforms.Approximately opposite the decorative men on the edges of the balcony railings..Make them also some kind of curly , beautiful
It seems like the consensus is that the vertical supports must go. I think it’s time to consider the wales. I kind of wish I had placed the wales (barkhout) before planking the second skin. Also, the ornaments are metal. I don’t have the tools to cut them. They seem a bit clunky. I will have to cut the vertical supports to be able to install the ornaments. Thank you, @Mr.Deep, for your feedback. It helps a lot.

Vic I speak under correction, but view the build log of @paulb . I am sure that he experienced the exact same issue and if memory serves correct, he "bent" some of the ornaments.

I wonder if there is someone out there that could make replicas of those ornaments out of wood or plastic using either a CNC machine or 3D printer?

And why did you break off the upper and lower frames? How will you form the contours?

@Mr.Deep, that's a great question. I had to take everything apart because there were gaps between the horizontal pieces and the hull. I had to trim the pieces and bevel them to provide the correct angle to give the most gluing surface. The vertical pieces were in the way. Then I glued the horizontal pieces on so they would meet the wales with Loctite wood glue. It sets up fast and is strong. I plan on adding the vertical pieces on top to give structure to the "bell." Thanks for following and sharing suggestions.

I used trim strips from the first skin. Slats made of linden wood. Balsa seems to be easily processed.
