Le Soleil Royal ZHL Build Log [COMPLETED BUILD]

I dry-fitted a decorative pillar with the shape of a woman next to the rear of the bell before building the bell. Do you have enough room on the right for her with your bell? I'm finding I have to take a whole bunch of things into account before construction of some of these elements. The ornaments are especially giving me fits.
Whew this is a hectic build Vic. You doing a fine job with it.

Out of curiosity, how do you plan on attaching the castings? I purchased some gorilla glue construction adhesive, plus plan on using pins or some other form of mechanical fastening. My main concern is that the gorilla adhesive gives enough working time.

I have attached most of ther casting using UHU HART glue
Quite a popular glue in Europe for model boats.
I am not sure if it's available in the US though

So far, I’ve used Gorilla Gel Super Glue. On my Black Pearl, I used epoxy for the figurehead and some heavier pieces. It does take some time to set.

HI, was wondering if you could tell me what blue plant color you used? It looks really good
I went to Walmart and bought a large bottle of bright blue and a large bottle of cobalt hue. I mixed them together with a 4:5 ratio. 4 parts bright and 5 parts cobalt. I wasn’t sure which color was better, so I mixed them to create something akin to what I thought royal blue looks like. I mixed them in a plastic refrigerator container that I could seal the top for later use of the paint. We’ll see how that works when I’m ready to paint the rest of the ship. If not, I can mix more.

@Gilbertm, I just want to let you know I think your Soleil looks marvelous! Mine will look a bit different from yours because of personal taste or because I accede to the desires of my daughter. Builders choice! But yours has been an inspiration to me, and you have been very encouraging. Bless you and thank you.

Well, went out looking for a bright gold (must be a run on it in this area).... after several stops,,, can't find anything I like. Antique gold it is.

Did you try looking in the Testors section? It’s not acrylic and is used to paint plastic models. I got mine at Hobby Lobby I believe.
