Grants Xebec 1:60 (using Jabeque Cazador Occre1:60 kit) [COMPLETED BUILD]

You got to be proud of this one Grant , it looks great. JJ..
Good Afternoon Jack.Thank you- I’m getting there:D. She is starting to come together.
Just read through the last few posts and I enjoyed looking at those photos, specially the ropes etc. You are doing some great work Grant.
Good afternoon Roger. Thank you. It does help when you get decent ropes and blocks;). Trying to make her look a little “used” and it a difficult balance between a mess and too “modally “. Not sure if I’m pulling it off…ROTF
Bummer that the contents broke out. Occre seem inconsistent on where they provide wooden parts vs metal parts e.g. your oak canon carriages look to be cast in metal whereas the similar scaled Endeavour had wooden carriages so not sure why they do this. Will be interested to see what changes you make, so looking forward to log updates.
True story Keith. The metal castings are also out of scale so plenty scratch parts have to be made.

Thanks Paul.
Nicely executed, Grant.
Regards, Peter
Thank you Peter
Stunning work Grant!!
….and you too Paul:D
Cheers Grant

Very good rope / rigging work - and high quality ropes
Good afternoon Uwek. The ropes and blocks are really good. I use cotton ropes (prefer them to synthetic) as I feel they look more natural. I have to be very gentle with them tho else the fray. Thank you.

Good afternoon Mark. I am chuffed you think so. I am trying to get a more realistic look to my Xebec…works sometimes others not so much.

Good afternoon Shota. Thank you.

My stays are tied off to the strake on the fore bulkwark. Being active stays and not shrouds I decided on this vs being tied to the stay by the toggle. The falls I looped and stored them behind this strake.
Can’t say I’m convinced of the tying off of the falls to the strakes in terms of the forces acting on the strakes, but other than that; excellent craftsmanship and a model battling for dominance in the Tyler household.

Good afternoon. I finally got some time to continue with the foremast stays and anchors.

My stays are tied off to the strake on the fore bulkwark. Being active stays and not shrouds I decided on this vs being tied to the stay by the toggle. The falls I looped and stored them behind this strake.

I did break the fore support….will have to fix.

The Anchors. I made a sling at the cathead to hold the stored anchor, some strapping between the first and second stays.

Loads more to do- like 16 oars etc…..whew.

Hi Grant, What do you use to stain the wood on the floor boards and benches of your longboat? I am testing out different stains for my Endurance deck but not come up with anything I am totally happy with. Thanks
