The mud is the hull……… Who cares anyway…..it’s the final finish that counts.It's comforting to realize I'm not the only one to use that much "mud" on my hulls for filling and shaping. She's really shaping up!
Can't wait to follow how she develops!
That has been my modeling companion for over 50 years. All my clippers have been cradled by it. Off to the extreme right (out of view) is my mini drill press/mill unit. More work to do on the bow and stern.We practically have the same workbench!
I've got one of those wonderful long dis-continued mini- Workmates. A craftsman's treasure.

I had so many things going on in my life....but now I can focus...even though summer is coming soon. I tend to work fast in spirts. And generally, I do things unorthodox...because I am after final results...not based off of what is typical...to get there. I will be working on finalizing the bow shape and stern....then probably more filling and sanding before I lay down some primer to give me an idea of the final hull shape. Primer exposes all the minor inconsistencies....that I will, again fill and sand, till I am satisfied. Just like I did Glory.
Rather than give up I got out the Elmer's putty. After hours of applications and standings I got the hull symmetrical and double planked over that. Worked a treat, but nearly half the hull was putty. The trick was (as usual) patience. Many, many coats, allowed to dry thoroughly before sanding. Took a week (or two, or more. But you don't remember the pain).

Thanks Peter. Next will be finishing up the sub floor, then I’ll stain and lay the decking……then the waterway and install the rib stanchions. This all must be installed and painted before I add the monkey rail/cap.Wow! Significant progress!
