High Grant,
The procedure went well and I'm slowly getting back to normal. Lot's of don't this or don't that instructions. Work on the Viking ship has stopped temporarily since it involves a lot of fitting and sanding to complete the decks and my working arm is my left one. I have managed a start on this, no heavy sanding, just fitting and gluing.

It's another Bluejacket Lobster boat that will be a Birthday Gift in Fall.

Good Day to all,

The Viking ship crafters are at the local Pub celebrating time off. In the mean time the local Yankee Shipwrights are making great progress with the Lobster boat gift. All the frames have been placed, the false deck has been"adjusted" and glued into place. None of the work required much filing, sanding or any Bad Words".

The scribed deck dry fitted.

I'm not sure I like the "scribed simulated planks".

I build the earlier version of this kit a few years ago and like the "non planked deck" look'.

This is as far as I can go with this build, the next step is to cut, file, fit, etc. the Balsa bow blocks. That is going to take a lot of sanding and will have to wait until I get full use of my left arm.

Finally after about 2.5 months, she arrived. My long awaited Oseberg by Pavel. A week and a half ago I thought she, my ship had sailed away into the sunset after arriving at the Portuguese customs house. I was requested to fill in the forms and then paid the duties. Folling that, NOTHING for days and days. Lost in space. I thought, another lost in Portugal. But then the tide changed and in the middle of the dark night, while fast asleep, the phone bleeps. BLEEP, BLEEP. A while later, I read the message to find, she has not lost her way, she is on her final voyage to her new keeper and home. She arrived this afternoon and the postman tapped me on the should as if, knowing my long wait was now over.

First impressions. She is beautiful even if in parts. An inspection reveals a beautifully crafted model. I was already sure it was, and now I discover confirmation.

My little vikings are here to watch over the build process. Thanks Pavel and well done. One last thing. I received the updated oars. GREAT.

You can take the pre-scribed deck and flip it over and then re-plank as you see fit.

My biggest issue with the pre-scribed decks is need to add lines for ends of planks, which can be done with fine blade and skill. But a PITA to do.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I have mine, along with several others here on SOS building it as well.

Worked on getting the decks to fit between the frames.

A lot of fitting sanding, and repeat.

I need to study Pavel's video. His video shows a different method of construction for the decks versus the plans. He trims the edges and then adds a small piece at each end to get a tight fit. Other than a slight overlap on a couple of the longer decks I can't see the benefit on my build.

Looking good Jan. There is a sheet of parts as I showed in this post on my log that isn't mentioned in the instructions. I only realized it was there after watching the video. That sheet contains the small pieces to add to the ends of each room of deck boards.

Russ, thank you for the information, I scrounged through my kit box and found the sheet of parts. More fitting and sanding in my future.
