Testing Marshall's image.

1. The image downloaded from my email in the correct orientation. I opened up the image in a windows default viewer - still opens up in the correct orientation.
2. now for the attachment.
3. I click on "Attach files" and low and behold - the "thumbnail" is already rotated by 90 ° How interesting !!!

I would say there is something about your samsung that has some embedded orientation set to PORTRAIT mode or something like that.

I have recently experienced something similar, Donnie (and only in the past few weeks). Pictures that were taken with a certain orientation (let's call it portrait or landscape) - and show that way on my photo software - end up turning 90 degrees when I post them to the forum. That has never happened before...

When did you notice? I did an upgrade on the image rotator Wednesday of this week. Another member is having problems.
Do you attach from your phone or PC. If your phone, Samsung or iphone

I still can't figure it out20220701_143757.jpg.0176d53fc6db5651846358e1bea5084f.jpg
Older files upload ok, Just recently has this happen, but it uploads everywhere else no problem, just here on SOS.

I'm not sure when it started exactly but the last two times I posted images at least one of them turned 90 degrees. I guess it was within the past week or two. You can fix the rotation after it happens but only as an 'edit' after you have posted - you cannot change it beforehand.

I am posting images from my PC.

Guys,
it would really be helpful if I knew nearly exactly the date of when you all noticed this change. Why? Well, I updated an application we use on the forum called "Rotate image" and I am trying to figure out what the deal is. I might can roll back to the older version of the application if that would help.

So, it was July 29th Tuesday that i did some updates to an attachment editor. Did any of you notice a problem then?

I downloaded Bobbly K images that he sent me and sure enough they POST at 90 ° - that is why I was thinking it is his Samsung Phone. So, Doc is posting from PC - so, I am thinking --- this is really strange. I personally have yet to experience this problem. That does not mean there is a problem - obviously there is, but trying to figure this one out --- ????!!!!!

OK Donnie. Here is one...

These four images were uploaded from my PC (Wednesday AM). Three were fine but the second image from the left (adult woman) was rotated 90 degrees and I had to edit it after posting.

And here is another one. Also posted on Wednesday but later in the day. The image that was rotated was the last one. This was taken with a regular camera held 'vertically' rather than horizontally and it showed up horizontal on the forum and I had to edit it after posting:

I uninstalled the "Attachment Editor" so, lets see what happens.

Actually, the "Attachment Editor" program took the place of an OLD Rotate Image program. The "Attachment Editor" is supposed to do it all, plus some other features.

Greetings, mon ami!

The Attachment Editor was truly a great tool, especially when it came to properly orienting images. If photos were uploaded in the wrong orientation, the editor allowed you to rotate or adjust each one individually after posting. It didn’t matter how many images were attached; it gave you the option to review and correct each one separately (via 'Submit' function), making the correcting orientation process much more streamlined and user-friendly.

Pity, we no longer have it; it saved us from posting upside-down images!

down loaded all the pictures from my phone to my PC, doesn't make a difference, just now cant edit lol
Bobby K.
Hello, my friend,

Images can be rotated using the built-in Windows photo viewer and editor called Photos. It’s an extra step before uploading, but it ensures your photos are correctly oriented.

PEOPLE.
THE EDITOR HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY UNINSTALLED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM.

The editor is really not used for FIXING problems on a regular basis. All images SHOULD attach normal.

Bobby, did you ever look at the settings on your Samsung.

It is difficult to troubleshoot if I am not given the information I need.

It takes times to figure this out - I have other things that I have to take care of beside the forum.

One more thing. It is very difficult to know what kind of "WORK FLOW" (from the time you take the picture all the way to getting onto the forum) >> what steps and how many steps are done that along the way, the image(s) get contaminated.

My work flow consist of using a real camera. Downloading those images into a FOLDER that I create on my PC. I then use a Graphic Software either Photoshop or Corel to edit and crop the image. Then I will upload to the forum. I have never had to use the Attachment Editor /// EVERY

Hi Donnie, For myself I take the picture and it goes into my gallery if I need to edit I do it first ,then upload it to SOS. I know nothing about computers and have to rely on my son, who is a 45 year old gamer, this one got him stumped. Let me know if we can help thanks

Hi Jim,
What is happening is that images that have been properly oriented before uploading are getting turned during the upload. I haven't needed to use the attachment editor until this week. It's not hard to fix the turned images - just an extra step that wasn't ever needed previously.

Ok ok, this might be me lol. The son has said I might have taken the pictures in portrait mode instead of land scape mode. He looked at my settings, he tool a couple of pictures then did some stuff, said let's try this. He set it up so when talking a pictureI have to take the pucture holding the phone as a camera.

Two for two, my apologies to everyone for this.
