Corsair H.M.S. Enterprize Build Log

Ok, so here we go with the aft cant frames. This is for the first three.
First I collect the pieces.

Then we sand the char off the gluing areas and organize the parts:

Then we glue some of the sub-assemblies together:

Then we finish gluing up the first half of the cant frames:

I'll let those cure until tomorrow and then I'll do the other halves of these. :)

Since I am well past the point of no return on finish choice I am very comfortable with the beeswax/ turpentine approach, especially since it blends seamlessly as you apply in installments. Here is the latest application on surfaces below beams/carlings.
The aft sections look a bit odd because finish was just applied, still wet with reflections. When dried it all evens out.

All the aft cant frames are build. I just need to do all the sanding to shape them. I've been under the weather a little the past few days and it has impacted my desire to work on anything. But I'm starting to come out of it now and I expect I'll start sanding here very soon and get them installed ! In addition, I also have the hawse timbers to sand at the same time. It concerns me a little with all the trouble that @richardjjs has had with them. But I guess I need to get to it so I can see how it works out.

Also, today I received my order from Syren Hobbies that has the kit of a ships wheel that I will use to replace the one that came with the kit.
It's quite the little kit and looks to be great and perfect for what I want !

Its the inner part thats the problem they are marked But i would suggest that you just clean a and Y8a bit off the inner and keep removing the part from the Jig to ensure a clean fit between the Hawse pieces
It would all be resolved by a photo of what it should look like INSIDE after its ready to go on
This is an amazing kit BUT the instructions are not good
a lot of them show detail that is not available in the kit
Others not enough
Where do the inner planks go EXACTLY
as they butt
up to the INNER hawse no 7
I built a Sergal/Panart Victory 45 years ago and it sold at Sotherby's for 5000 pounds even with the Dreadful pressed brass Stern

(Hope you are feeling better Its not fun sanding when you are not 100%)

hi trying to find out exactly what frame the Fore Platform begins at and Ends at
I make it between of X2 and Back of 6
Also cant see any Holes for the Masts looks like the foremast is in front of the Foreplatform and the Foremost Wall

Also Beam 13 is the Mid Beam what Frame is this on

Not sure ive read everything but none of these frame numbers seem to be shown anywhere

I also note that you have fitted the Inner and Outer TOP PLanking which must make trimming the top of the Hull easier

Incidentally Ive marks the Bottom of the Jig on my drawings and the Top of the JIg - it makes measuring anything above the Jig Much Easier

Posted in mine as well

GREAT WORK

THANKS

Hi Richard,
Just a quick note, my friend — to keep things clear and helpful for everyone, please post questions about your own build in your build log rather than in someone else’s. When questions are mixed into another member’s log, it can unintentionally distract from their progress and make things harder for others to follow. Jeff’s log should stay focused on his work, and your own build log is the perfect place for your questions, so members can help you without any confusion. ;)

Thanks very much for understanding, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any help navigating the forum.
