Thanks Paul appreciate the offer - I just had my local cabinet maker break down all of my remaining billets of pear on his industrial size machines - much easier and safer than me with the Dewalt "finger taker" table saw I have in my garage. If I run loan - I'll know who to contact !!!By the way, @CLB, I reached out to Rare Woods and they boarded out some swiss pear for me. I ordered more than I suspect I can use in this present lifetime - so if you are in need I'm just up the road. I also chose a few planks of buxus macowanni that I will process into billets this summer. It's not sempervirens but it's close. Just trying to be neighborly. Plus, my kids will think its firewood when I'm gone...

A brief work in progress report... these are gun port hinges:
Blanks (0.3 mm x 3 mm brass strip):
Simple jig to standardize drilling:
Creating a 'French-looking' flourish:
And then tapered the hinge a bit:
Processing these was tedious...
If I was building the full ship I would have had to develop some other approach - perhaps laser-cutting or photo-etching? Sergey (@serikoff) is sharing a way to print and copperplate these sorts of things - but that's a few too many new skill sets for me to take on for this limited application. Anyway, doing these as individual one-offs required a certain level of perseverance.
Next up, soldering for the hinge itself...
