Revell USS Constitution 1:96 build log

Hi John
I'm currently building the BlueJacket kit. It is supposed to be a very accurate representation of her 1812 appearance. If interested, I could send you the color guide they provide for the entire ship

I have to tell this story before I pass away.
I was in Cuba when
Kennedy declared a blockade. I was station on fleet tugboat. Our job was to tow things. In
Cuba we towed targets for people to shoot at (and hoped they didn't shoot us).
We were armed with a world war two 3 inch 50. This was manually loaded and turned. At first they had us going back and forth at entrance to the harbor. Why I don't know. We had no sonor.
We we docked in the base we were the only ship in a rather long pier.
The officer of the deck was given a 45 pistol, but no bullets.
They stationed me at the beginning of the pier at the shore. They gave me a world war two helmet, a M1 rifle (no bullets), and a whistle.
My orders were if the Cubans came over the hill to blow my whistle.
I am so glad that our military has matured.
I remember my first line watch guarding millions of dollars worth of aircraft in 1975 at NAS Lemoore California. I was outfitted with a white guard belt, a flashlight (that worked only when you smacked it on something), a nightstick (that could not be pulled from its holster), a whistle and a large copy of the general orders of a sentry encased in thick plastic sheets tied to the guard belt. My instructions were to walk constantly around the aircraft and if I found something wrong to blow the whistle until someone came.
