HMS Victory 1:72 - Caldercraft by Gilbertm

I usually just follow along quietly, but I really want to say that this is a great result.

By the way, some people really do live in terrible places—I can’t even imagine spending the whole day on a Mediterranean terrace, with a good glass of wine in my hand, listening to all those birds chattering away. I feel for you, Gilbert. :cool:

Hello friends
This week I worked on the rudder.
Prior to doing that I completed the 2 gunport lids located at the fore of the ship. These 2 gun ports are closed.

Then I started on the rudder which was not super difficult to complete. Pictures below

I am now leaving for a few days to attend Verdi operas in Arena di Verona, Italy. For those who like opera, this is really a wonderful place to go to and I highly recommend.

It’s looking fantastic. I’m working on the HMS Victory Anatomy and plan to do the Caldercraft next. Question: my current kit has brass pieces for the buckets that you have to curl and glue. I’ve never had much success for gluing brass. Any suggestions. Your buckets look pretty nice.

Hello and thank you for your feedback
THe brass buckets are included in the kit. I made a small hole at the top of the bucket CA glued a small piece of 0.1mm string and then glued the sting.

Thanks for your input
I just followed the instructions on page 46 of the manual: "Identify and paint black the anchors, the anchor palms, the anchor stocks and the anchor palm block components"

It does seem odd that the anchor and the anchor stock are parallel.
I thought the anchor stock was supposed to be attached at a 90-degree angle to the anchor.
If it’s according to the manual, then it’s probably fine.
It’s not really my place to say anything.
My apologies.:)

I had not understood your point; I thought it was more related to the black color.
