HMS Victory 1:72 - Caldercraft by Gilbertm

Hello friends
I completed the bow and added the bow gratings. At this stage I have not yet added the 2 boomkins.
I have ordered 3d printed figurehead components and shall work on that once received. I believe they are higher quality than the metal ones included in the kit.

I started the planking of the poop deck but have postponed the completion since I needed to include the wires for the 3 stern lanterns that should be added to the stern fascia. These wires are under the poop deck. I therefore decided to start working on the stern fascia.
Rather than installing

I have ordered very thin wires that could pass thru the small brass tube that will hold the lanterns.
In the mean time, I'll continue the build with the quarter galleries.

Good morning Gilbert. Lovely progress. The bow gratings look fabulous. I remember how crowed that area becomes and some fun rigging lies ahead. Cheers Grant

Hello friends
Having completed the stern fascia last week, I focused this week on the quarter galleries, having not yet received the 40 gauge wires for the 3 stern lanterns.

I have received the wire this morning and shall now install the stern lanterns mount and finish the poop deck.

Cheers

Good morning Gilbert. A difficult section looking very good so far- nice. I watch the Investec cup final where Bordeaux gave Leinster a bit of a hiding- good day for French rugby. Cheers Grant

Hello friends
Good progress in many different areas since my last post from 10 days ago.

I have received the 36AWG electric wire from Aliexpress and have therefore installed the stern lantern supports.

Next I installed the side entry port and steps

Next I worked on the trophy of arms and the Victory stern sign.
For the trophy of arms I ordered a 3D printed resin version from Woody's Model Works in the UK but was not really happy with the quality of the decoration. I therefore decided to use the metal version provided in the kit.

Finally I installed the poop deck and started with some of the fixings (flag locker, snatch blocks, cleats and kevel).

Hello friends
Slow progress during these last few days

First was the installation of the skylight and the mizzen topsail sheet bitts
20260604_114655(0).jpg20260609_173540.jpg

Then I built and installed the poop ladders

Next was the fenders and chesstrees

Finally I started painting the figurehead

I am now going to complete and install the figuread, install the poop deck barricade and start on the channels

The build is nicely progressing

Cheers

Hello friends
Little progress this week on the figurehead, the poop deck barricade and the channels

FIrst I completed painting and installed the figurehead. I tried a third party 3D printed version of the figurehead but felt this was not shart enough and kept the kit provided metal version.

Installing the poop deck barricade was no issue but I did not like the way I installed the fire buckets. I am now redoing this part; picture next time

I worked on the channel and thanks to the input highlighted by Chris (team118) and Brian (Bri62) I made sure that both sides were symetrical
At this stage I have pretty much completed building the channels and installed the starboard side.

Next steps will be to install the channels on the port side, add the chainplates and work on the hull decorations.
