Oliver Cromwell, POF ,Scale 1:48 by Lawrence [COMPLETED BUILD]

Hello Lawrence,I hope everything works out fine for your family.
Hello Zoltan, We thank you very much for your visit to my build log, also for your very kind words and overly nice comments. Yes we all have our fingers crossed and hopping for the best, but at the best it will be a long hard struggle, ENJOY.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Ship Mates
My Admiral and I thank you very much for all of your very kind concerns, best wishes and your Prayers for our son Dennis. He came trough 8 plus hours in the OR. His doctors are pleased with the results. However he dose have a long way to go as he lost most of the inside things in his throat along with his precious beard. No word as yet how long he will remain in Sunny Brook Hospital in Toronto as there is still a lot going on. Will keep you all updated.
We have not worked on our Oliver Cromwell for well over a month now. With all of the hospital visits, picking up a lot of colds bugs and so on from the hospital, the stress of the situation, it seams that it has nocked the wind out of our sails so to speak. We are off for a week of R & R at the Byers Lodge on the French River to celebrate the Admirals birthday. It is around 3 1/2 hours drive north of us so not to bad at that. We do want to rent there pontoon boat for at least a few days and just may try our luck at fishing. This will be a much needed rest and a chance to unwind a bit.
When we return on the 22 of June we hope that we can return to the Old Ship Yard and continue on our Oliver Cromwell build, now when we look at her our thoughts wonder all over the place, so this is just our way of avoiding another rebuild, ENJOY. Regards Lawrence

Wishing a faster recovery for your son, and return to your small shipyard. My prayers and thoughts with your family.
Hello Jim
We do thank you very much for your prayers and nice words for our son Dennis. He has had so much of the inside of his throat removed that it will make live very difficult for him, that is if he dose recover, ENJOY.
Regards Lawrence

Hi lawrence, there are much more important things in live then shipbuilding. Everything at its time, wishing your family all the best in these difficult times. Your OC wont sail away without its captain.
Hello Maarten
We thank you very much for your very kind and encouraging words. We are still hopping for a good come out . But it dose not look all that great from our point of view. But we have not given up. We are off to the Byers Lodge for a week of R & R to try and unwind just a bit this coming Saturday AM. Can not seem to gather up enough steam to work in the Old Ship Yard, hopefully after our return, ENJOY.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Ship Mates
I thank you all very much for all of your very kind words and prayers for our son Dennis. He came trough the 8+ hours of surgery ok. He still has a long way to go and is in no way out of the woods as yet, THANKS.

Well after a long absents and a week long trip of R&R up at the Byers Lodge on the French River, Ont. I have restarted to do a bit of work on my Oliver Cromwell. We have framed in the Boatswain's Cabin and also the Forward Sail Room, we left these low to be able to see the inside of our ship when the cut outs are finally cut out. We have also built and installed the Main Sail Room and also the Aft. Pantry. I do realize that this is not a lot of work to show for almost two months, but one dose nave priorities', ENJOY.

Hello Ship Mates

We are slowly getting into our Oliver Cromwell Build again. The little fellows and I have built and installed the 3 Aft Cabins on the Starboard side those of the Marine Officer's, Masters and that of the Surgeon’s, the 3 Cabins on the Port side will have a break down Bulkheads much like we have did in the Bow area for viewing once the Cut-outs are installed.

We have also given our Request for 8 mattress pads for this deck to our Admiral; they are so small that once she gets started they will be sewed up in no time. ENJOY.

Regards Lawrence IMG_5422.JPGIMG_5423.JPG

Hello Ship Mates
We have did a little more on our Oliver Cromwell build, We have added the 3 break down bulkheads for the 3 cabins on the Starboard Side, those of the Gunner, Lieutenant and also the Purser. Can not seam to get going since our R&R Vacation, it could be the summer heat as it has been quite warm here the last little while., but as time goes on things should improve, ENJOY.

This is looking very good my friend Thumbs-Up
somehow with reduced privacy for the three - because of the narrow walls ;)

Hello Uwe
I thank you very much for your visit to my build log, also for your nice comments. In your quote are you referring to the 3 cabins on the Aft Port side? I was trying to leave the impression of just how these 3 cabins would look and also not obstruct ones view of the inside of the Oliver Cromwell once the cut-outs are cut out, much like Harold M. Hahn did with his Kingfisher build. How ever in your opinion should the bulkheads between the cabins have been higher?
I do appreciate your very honest reply and I am in no way offended in any way. Just looking for more ideas on how I should have gone about building these brake down bulkheads between the cabins, ENJOY.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Ship Mates

Back in the Old Ship Yard again, after working with Bulkheads and Cabins on the Lower Deck. For so long the little fellows and I decided to get back with some larger timbers. We have cut and dry fitted all of the Beams for the Main Deck. The after Beams are clamped in place for the fitting of the Carlings that in time will support the Ledge Beams.
IMG_5426.JPGIMG_5427.JPGWe do realize that we have gotten just a bit ahead of our selves. Were waiting for the Grating to arrive but it looks like we will have to set up our little Byrnes Table Saw and cut a few of our own.
We will have to speak with our Electrical Technician’s about the mess of piled up wires in the Well Area, not a nice sight as it is, Enjoy.

Hello Ship Mates

IMG_5431.JPGIMG_5428.JPGIMG_5429.JPGIMG_5430.JPGIMG_5432.JPGIMG_5433.JPGWell we did have some Laser Grating on ordered but it has not come as yet, and we did want to start closing up the Lower Deck. So to make a story short the little fellows and I set up the Byrne’s table saw and made a simple jig to cut the Gratings on. We then assembled the Grating for the Mane Hatch and built a Hatch Coaming for it. We now have to do the same for the Forward Hatch and also for the little Hatch in front of the Aft Pantry, ENJOY.

Regards Lawrence
