USS Bonhomme Richard 1779 1:48 [COMPLETED BUILD]

She is getting a great looking model - very accurate work - Looking very good !!!
BTW: the height of the balustrade is now looking good - fits well !!!!

Fight laziness, don't let it spread out and take over your desire! Modeling and laziness can not go together. :p

Yes, no problem, I will continue posting photos till they finish (after oil I covered the hull with bitumen varnish) and than if you still need a close up photos just let me know

Hi Oleg, can you explain to us in more detail what is gull with buthum varnish? Do you have bottle pictures?

This was just some typos that I corrected almost right away :) I meant
"after oil I covered the hull with bitumen varnish"

I realised now that maybe I should've better used "bituminous" rather than "bitumen"

Many thanks, Oleg. I know exactly what do you mean, I understand\speak the Russian language.

Oleg
Once the oil has dried thouroughly can you show us a real close up of the tree nails. I’m interested in seeing how obvious (or the opposite) they are.
Keep on going. The model looks fantastic.

John

Here is the current state of the hull after oil and varnish have cured. Indoor lighting and cellphone photo, but you can have an idea...

It's a ready to use compound, so no idea. But what I do is dilute it with white-spirit. The ratio is found experimentally - the darker you want, the less white-spirit you put and vice-versa, but with too much white-spirit it becomes too watery and useless.
It's kind of tricky technique to apply it that you gain with experience...
