Hi Keith, What a really nice model this is turning out to be now that much of the detailing is done. During the earlier stages of the build it didn’t look to have the potential to be this good. Your efforts are being rewarded.

Firstly, Thank you to everyone who is following this log and for all the likes and comments. They are much appreciated. The last few weeks have seen some progress, f.e. the only hull planking l plan to do is the outer hull, down to the wales is complete. Shot racks have been added to the inner bulwarks.. The channels, chainplates and dead eyes are fitted, port and starboard, with the back stay fittings and steps. Mast and bowsprit stubs are also now in place. l have also been working on the catheads on either side of the bow, with both the anchors mounted. The rigging for the stbd. Anchor and cathead is done which just leaves the port side for next time. Alert is really taking shape now. l shall now make a start on the armament (12 4 pounder guns and their carriages plus the swivel guns)

I agree with Paul (and all of the other superlatives). I especially love the patina and the wood working is so precise and crisp. She's a source of real pleasure to look at and invites the viewer to do so at length. Okay

Once I will also finalize mine ..... looking very good - have fun with the guns
Thank you Uwe. Your Granado is a masterpiece of modelling perfection and a real inspiration for me for when l start mine. l shall be studying your build log all the way through, although l have no expectations it will be anywhere near as good as yours but it looks such a good kit l'm sure l will have a lot of fun with it. l shall not be building it as a split hull however, that is just way above my ability. l shall probably be starting it around March next year and will be starting a new build log with it . Can't wait

Thank you very much Jimsky. Honesty, your Alert is much better than mine
Thank you, Keff. But as you may be aware (I am sure you are!!), there are no models better than others. All models a masterpieces as they are unique and valuable. This is exactly why your Alert is an awesome model!

Hi everyone and a very Happy Christmas to you all! I am now calling this HMS Alert ''job done''. After 10 months it is finally finished. l have enjoyed my time spent on this interesting project and am very pleased with the result. l know people will say will say my interpretation not 100% accurate to the real thing, nowhere near, but it's the pleasure one gets from the hobby of building a model ship like this that is the main thing and l like this kit. A few weeks break and tidy my workshop will see me ready for the next project, 1:48 scale HMS Granado full hull by CAF Models. I'm really looking forward to this one!!
