Thanks for your feedback
I love it being back on Soleil Royal

Grant, tomorrow I'll be less active on Soleil Royal, I'm sure you'll understand: France is playing Scotland in the 6 nations. One has to manage priorities, right ? ;)
Absolutely-France off to a good start in first two games. Scotland is looking good this year and where unlucky against Wales last week so going to be a good gameThumbsup

Hello all,
I believe I have now completed the standing rigging. Below some pictures of where I stand.

Next, I'll look into the upper deck cannons and see if I can change those
And I'll start working on the yards

Thanks
Hello Gilbert. She is looking even better than how France played last weekend. Beautiful. Awesome pictures. Cheers Grant

Hello
Before moving to the running rigging, I realized that I forgot to install the Mizzen stay.
This is now corrected.

Next I installed the topgallant bowsprit yard (not sure this is the correct name in English; it's called "vergue de perroquet de beaupré" in French). This was the first yard installed and it took me quite a lot of "do and re-do and re-do again". Anyway, it should be easier for the other yards.
Pictures below of where I stand, not all the running rigging of this yard is installed yet.

Hello all
Bowsprit yard is now installed. I need to adjust the tension on the various ropes, but I'll do this in a second step.

As previously indicated, I did not like too much the upper deck cannons that are provided in the kit as I feel they do not represent the reality of the Soleil Royal and have decided to change them. I have used 36mm cannons from Amati instead.
I have to say that installing the cannons while the masts, shroud and stays are already in place is a pain. I spent almost 3-4 days on the first 3 cannons (starboard side). Hopefully is should be faster for the others.
Below picture of the results. Note that the kit provided cannons are still in place on the port side.

Next will be to install the forward 3 cannons on the port side.

Lovely work! Rigging these big ships is quite an operation isn't it Gilbert? If I had thought that through I might have made a different selection for my current project...

So....gold paint or gold leaf? Whatever you used, it looks fantastic!

Gilbert, I’m impressed with your rigging and yards. Your work is meticulous. You are a craftsman. I do have two questions. 1) Are the blocks original with the kit? 2) Are the black cat’s heads installed? I don’t think they can bring up the anchors in that position.
