1682 HMY Fubbs 1:24 scale

Hello Ship Mates, The last couple of days the little fellows and Have been working on cleaning up the Starboard side decorations, we then painted them gold and went to install them. We were shocked to find that we had built the outsides bulkheads a little to short on the forward end. How ever after a little of shifting things around we were satisficed with the outcome, thus avowing a major rebuild. The three inspectors seamed to be rather pleased.
Regards Lawrence

Good morning Lawrence. If you did not point the tiny deviation out I certainly would never have noticed. Your “shifting” the decor around worked a treat. Cheers Grant

Hello Grant, Thanks for your vote of confidence, I slept on my big Boo-Boo and truly as of now I am not happy with it. I believe that I will leave it for a day or so before making such a big decision. One side of me says leave it and the other side says rebuild it.
Regards Lawrence

Good morning Lawrence. That is what I enjoy about this hobby and each builders preference. I know with some of my blunders, which continuously frustrate me, I just have to redo even though others think it is looking fine. I think another aspect is how accurate our objective is when we start our ship. Somethings look so good, however they are not historically accurate and then our dilemma of redo begins. Cheers Grant

Hello Ship Mates, Well last night after my shower the little fellows and I were looking over our HMY Fubbs and we could not justify our big Boo-Boo any longer. So we removed all of the starboard decorations, the only breakage we had was Neptune's spear shaft that was previously broken and glued up in our original clean up. We striped off the two upper railings along with there trim and some of the trim around the windows. Now we can start and correct our big mistake.
Regards Lawrence

Hello Grant, I thank you very much for your understanding in this situation. Sure I could have left it as it was but did not look at all to bad at first. But the more we looked at it the more it irked me to correct it , knowing that it was not as it should be. So a rebuild was in order, it will set me back a few days but it just has to be.
Regards Lawrence

Wow that is some serious woodworking, she is looking great, I've just been catching up again, been laid up for a few weeks with Sepsis, it certainly knocked me around.
Please give Bernadette our belated Birthday wishes, and we hope you enjoyed your time away together, looking forward to seeing more of your build,
Best regards John,

Hello John, I than you very much for your visit to my build log on the HMY Fubbs and also for your many likes. Sorry your fight with Sepsis it sure sounds like it gave you a rough time, nice to see that you are recovering nicely.
Bernadette says thanks to you and Maureen for your birthday wishes.
The HMY Fubbs is still in the rebuild section of the Old Ship Yard, hope to start adding details to her today.
Regards Lawrence

How did you fix the bulkhead, Lawrence? I don’t see evidence of the redo. Did you replank the entire area or just add a bit and paint over it? That probably wouldn’t work on the inside though, would it?

Hello Vic, Thanks for your visit and also for your comments. I striped off the top two planks both inside and outside, replaced most of them and repainted. I am now in the process of cleaning up the hull decorations that will receive a coat of gold paint before I replace them.

Good morning Lawrence. Wow, brilliant redo. An accurate representation and it looks aesthetically better too. Very nice! Cheers Grant

Hi Lawrence. After comparing the photo with the one in post #282 the outcome is much better. The lines run much better.
Chapeaux for your re-do.
Regards, Peter

Hello Peter, I thank you very much for your very kind words. Yes I do agree, this has been a lot of extra work but then again well worth it.
Regards Lawrence
