Good afternoon, everyone. While waiting for the right time to make my rather large purchase of the Zebec I wanted to keep building so decided to add this WWII classic warbird to my collection of aircraft. Doing a little research, it appears there were over 20 variations not including the early experimentals or the many sub variations totaling 8102 units according to records. The lines presented by the 51D are the most appealing to me, I actually enjoy watching you tube videos of modern-day restorations while I'm working out on my recumbent bike. I shall try and up my game by seam sealing, airbrushing, and hand brush painting so hope you all enjoy. First a little unpacking then partial assembly of the cockpit to start the show.

The green color appears way brighter in these photos than it is in real life. I've added some faux wiring I saw in some of the internet depictions.

Thanks for visiting, much more to come.

I think the Tamyia P 51- is the definitive example.

I found the decals from Barracuda studios to be wonderful for this model. Here are some in 1:48

Ultracast also has some great add ons

Hello Rob, I agree the detail with this Tamyia kit is superior, the only treason I didn't get it was I could only find their offering at 1:32 scale. I wanted to stay at 1:48 to match my B17H scale.

Hello everyone, a little progress to show here. I really didn't like the shade of green for portions of the cockpit assembly and have been trying other shades and finally decided on a darker green which you can see in the following photos. I left the chair the original green which is much brighter but changed all other parts to the darker scheme. The radio, battery, and fuel cell are in black, and the oil and coolant radiator housing is silver.

This kit provided a decal for all the instruments which I thought came out well. The dark green box at the back end houses the rear landing gear.

More to come later, thanks for checking in.

Good morning Daniel. You and Dean (@Dean62 ) keep sneaking in these WW2 classic airplanes. Have fun with plastics (always reminds me of riding our small 250//450 bikes which we called our “plastic bikes “. ;) ) while we wait for that Le Requin. Cheers Grant
