Axel Thorsen 1810 in scale 1/72 build by Dubz Modelling World

Thanks so much for your nice comments :-)

I made the metal tiller. There is a photo etch part in the kit I don't think is completely thought through. It should be folded and then ...?

Anyway I found a method that works for me. I folded at the other side direction, soldered the folded parts (green) and then soldered a brass strip (red) with the contour of the rudder head so that the parts fit the rudder head :-)

I met the same problem on those hinges too, took me a few night to modify.

Dubz's work woule be at 10/10. But from a business perspective, allowing customers to easily complete a 7/10 model in a short time would increases repeat purchase rates. I think this is the reason they simplified some PE parts.

I understand your point, but I actually see it differently in that it makes it more difficult for the customer to build. Let's take the tiller as an example. The way it is currently included is simply nonsense. It should have been made as shown in the following picture, then it could have been folded and would have fit better no matter what.

The list of things that are simply inadequate but could have been done "right" with little effort is quite long and, in my opinion, very unfortunate. I haven't shown it yet, but why 3D-printed square pumps? Why such rubbish when it could have been done right...

Unfortunately, discussions with the developers have very little effect :-(

It's still a lot of kit for the bucks I agree with that (the excellent pear blocks as example) but why not evolve? :-)

cheers

Dirk
