CAF Models La Salamandre...1:48 My Attempt

Well I have put this off long enough, welcome to my build log of La Salamandre. The kit is amazing, the materials are top quality.
This build will be quite a challenge for me but fortunately I have Uwek, ADC and Koreets logs to follow.

Next up was building the frames...

All the frame parts are laser cut and need to be sanded Square to get a good fit. I use double stick tape to hold the parts to the pattern for glue up. This was the first step in a long slow going process.
Next was sanding and grinding the bevels in all the frames. The laser etched lines were a great help in getting the proper angles. I used my Dremel for grinding the bevels, I tried using the spindle sander but I felt I had a better control with the Dremel.

I worked on the keel while grinding frames for a break
The keel was fitting together very well. The rabbet is laser etched and cut with chisel. The dead wood needs to be tapered down to the keel. I used an archival ink pen to blacken the joint lines in the pieces of the keel, one side of the joint gave good results.

I am very happy to another building log of the La Salamandre kit from CAF - also good to see, that you have the planset from Jean Boudriot which will be of very big help

Thanks Koreets, if I can make mine half as good as yours I would be happy.
Improving the kits is what’s so impressive with CAF. It seems he hears what modelers have to say and will act on it.
