Cazador Xebec 1750 - OcCre - scale 1:60 [COMPLETED BUILD]

So, this weekend was the Historic Shipmodelers expo in The Netherlands. Meeting some of you guys was great. @Maarten @Steef66 @Peter Voogt and many more. Your projects were from another world.
I wanted to make the central railing on the quarter deck. I did not use the one from the kit and I made my own.
With help of a jig, see pictures below I made a new one and placed the swivel guns on top.

Good morning. What Peter is doing with this kit is off the charts. It is kit bashing to another level. Outstanding work. I have not seen another Cazador like this. Cheers Grant

"The oars"

Well, firstly I have to apologize that you guys and gals have had to wait a long time for a new update.
Second, I had to figure out to make the oars in a way that I can repeatitly get the same result without using "fancy" tools. I had to make 18 identical oars and didn't want to use the ones from the kit. Didn't like the metal parts. I had some walnut lying around, so I used that instead.

So, the oars are not finished yet.... part 2 will follow soon.

Thanks, well done with the drill press.
Let me explain a bit further. Behind the vice is the fence. I use this as a guide to slide my vice against it. I set the max. depth on the press, then on eyesight I set the fence in the proper position and start milling. I do a couple of passes on different depths so I don't take off to much wood at a time.
I know with a cross-table it's much easier and more accurate, but I have to work with the tools I've got. :)

Great set of oars...

Is the making of actual oars will be covered in the next update or is covered somewhere back in previous threads?

Just very curios to see oars making techniques... In my Greek bireme, I had to do it all by hands, no milling or lathe or other mechanical tool so wondering what is your process of making them...

Thanks for the explanation. Do you think that your bearing was submitted to forces that could let to some damage ?
