Cazador Xebec 1750 - OcCre - scale 1:60 [COMPLETED BUILD]

Just wonderful
Thanks Stephan!

Again, thanks Heinrich. Love your reply.

Dear Peter
your lifeboat looks wonderful, the carving work cam beautiful :) Thumbsup
Hi Shota, thank you for all the likes and comments. You are one of the hardcore followers who always seems to leave a nice comment! :)

Nice ‘metal-parts’, Peter. With the hinge pins at that angle, it is quite laborious to make the whole function.
Regards, Peter

Thanks Peter, these hinges on this scale with pins are nightmare to work with. Eventualy everything worked out fine and the hinges work, but I accidentally dropped a drop of CA on the bottom pin so things are now fixed in this position.

Construction of the rudder.

A small update on the lifeboat. I've constructed the rudder from walnut and made the hinges from very thin brass sheetmetal and blackened them.
The shape of the helm is similar as on the big ship. I like these small details where you can see that there is a relationship between one another.

Still some work to do on her until she is finished and can be placed on deck of the big ship, but the list is getting shorter:
- anchor and cable
- small carving on the stern
- construction of the stand
- oars

Good morning Peter. What a superb ship boat for your Cazador. You micro carving skills are incredible. Cheers Grant

Good morning Peter. It did a while ago. The container with all the little parts in it was broken open and tons of little pieces all over the box.Redface. Ahh well fun challenges we have. I am going to wait until my Victory is done before I decide to give the Jabeque Cazador a go. Cheers Grant
Okay...so you have some "sorting out" to do before you can start....that should be fun eh?....

Hi guys,
Today I placed the boat on deck.

Slowly I'm running into the rigging part of the build. I have some small items to make like the stairs on port side, oars and some woodcarving. After that, I'm going to fabricate the masts and start with rigging...

Peter

Good morning Peter. What a beautiful Jabeque. Your woodworking and carving skills are fantastic. I love the “extras” or “modifications “ you made to the standard kit. The significant ones I see:The walnut strakes running the length of the main deck which add curvature came out so well. Obviously your change of carving decorations (more like the Le Requin ) than the OcCre kit are exquisite. I also see you changed the stairs going to the upper deck.

The entire wood finish is beautiful.

I’ve said it before however it is worth repeating. This is the best Cazador model I have seen. (Trust me I have seen plenty on many different forums while deciding what I’m going to do with my Xebec).
Cheers Grant

Peter, that looks simply wonderful!
Thanks Doc, I think it looks acceptable......

Thanks Steef!

Beautiful work Peter! ;)
Thanks Dean, always happy with your support!

I agree with all complaints ThumbsupThumbsupOkayOkaySpeechless
Thanks my friend!

She's so pleasing to look at Peter!
Hi Daniel, she's a sight for sore eyes... :)

Hi Grant,

Thank you for your kind words, perhaps you give me too much credits. Now you have started your build, you'll see how much I really deviate from the construction manual of Cazador. It wasn't always my intention to do so, it just developed this way. Some of the carvings and some of the changes I've made comes from inspiration of Le Requin and I made some sort of a hybrid between both ships but keep true to the lines of Cazador.

The walnut strip on the deck is something I added later on in the build. I wished I came up with this idea when started with the deckplanks. By this I mean I can let the stroking of the outer deckplanks following the curve of the walnut strip and the inner strakes just straight. Ah well, sometimes you just have to compromise I guess..
It's a great kit, not to complex but really well thought out. Even if you build her out of the box you'll end up with an eye catching model for sure and I'm relly curious what you are planning to do with her... :)

regards,
Peter

Hi Peter - OH I forget to mention how brilliant your “scratch” parts are. Well pretty much most of the parts thus far are scratch built. I love the ships boat and your cannons. Simply awesome.
Cheers Grant

Yep, much is scratchbuild. The small boat alone was 2 months of work......glad that thing is done, it became almost a never ending story.... ROTF

Good afternoon Peter. Nope the credit and accolades are most certainly due. I have started my deck( will post now) and I have changed the kit up completely. Made it longer, more sleek and I have some ideas to make it more outlandish. I am doing the lower deck like the Le requin( well sort of) and I don’t think she will be a Spanish ship when I’m done. I most certainly don’t have your skills but I’m going to give it a goThumbsup. ChyGrant
