a few more to go..........

Dave, Shota, and Rich,
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you all are doing well. And thank you all for the likes! Dave the sliding is nice. IMO if I was just doing models I would never buy it. But i do woodworking too. Some of the small work I do is turning pens and it comes in handle. That was the reason I also purchased the extra large table saw. Makes life easier.
Rich those clamps and the 3rd hand come in as very useful. Since the Hannah has very limited information give a modeler a lot of wiggy room to do they would like. I would normally try to add all the blocks and eyes to the mast yards and booms. But was not sure which way I was going to go. So had to add when they were in place. A little difficult, but do-able. I used the small black handle clamps mainly to keep the yards level as I added the thread.

Hello All,
I plan on displaying the model as a small diorama. Not too crazy. The theme would be that the ships retro fit is still in progress. So I have been messing around on the layout. There will be a ground cover to make it a little more realistic. I also added the back stays and the swivel guns. I have been slowing making rope hanks for the model. Cleaning up the pigtails and such. As for any pieces of thread I did not see I like using a regular ol plastic straw and blow off any dust and thread pieces I did not see. The end is in sight is all i can say. As for figures it's pretty tough finding 1/4 scale size. I do not have a 3d printer, but it would work pretty good in this case. So I may display the model without figures and later add them.

The first photo shows the cannon is almost ready to load onto the ship, the second is waiting in line. Those tripod hoist back in those days are cool but might not work on my board because it take a bit of room.

1613195013_1925_FT24836_1360.jpg

The scaffolding goes all the way around the boat. I just put a very small portion. I do not plan on covering up my model. It's the main subject after all.

Now you know as to why I never installed the rudder and tiller.

I plan on adding a few hull planks next to the ship. ready to be installed.

Happy Modeling Everybody

Thanks for your kindness Shota, Dave, and Jim,

There is very little rigging left to do. But I am considering leaving it alone to go with the refit mode. I can't believe I am getting close to the end. So many things got in the way, and prevented me from working on the boat.

Take care

Very good ideas of your diorama and well planned - will be great presentation.

I have only one small comment to your chosen strips for the scaffolding.

Usually these scaffoldings are / were very light construction, so that they can be dismantled and assembled fastly at the locations were necessary

Take a look at some examples

So maybe you should use thinner material for the scaffolding, with this also more of your great model will be visible, if you make the scaffolding all around the model (like you mentioned

Hi Uwe,
Thanks for your comments. I was not too concerned about the scaffolding. That is all I am putting. I do not want to hide the model. It never crossed my mind about the timber size. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi everyone,
Well for a while there it seemed I would never say this. But my Hannah build has finally come to an end! I will add better photos to the Complete Gallery later. I still need add barrels, and mainly figures. But I see no reason to keep this log open any long then adding a couple of photos later with the diorama completed.
The windlass was finally completed, the swivel guns added, two cannons will be next to the name plate, the other two will look like they are ready to load onto the ship. I decided no tripod wenge because it would just be too much in a small area. Besides the main subject is the boat. I added rope hanks here and there. You will notice the inwales painting not completed. Thats were a figure will come in showing him painting. The little structure at this time I am thinking will show shipwrights going over the drawings of the refit of the Marble Schooner.
I now have to go order the glass to cover and protect. I decided on the diorama because I thought it would kinda bring the model to life a little bit.

SO THIS SHOUT OUT GOES OUT TO ALL WHO HAVE WATCH THIS BUILD. APOLOGIES FOR IT TAKING SO LONG TO COMPLETE. BUT BEING RETIRED NOW HOPEFULLY MY BUILDS WILL SPEED UP A BIT. THANKS FOR WATCHING. I AM NO EXPERT BUT I ALSO HOPE MY BUILD WILL OTHERS WITH THEIR BUILDS OF THIS MODEL. SINCE IT IS A PRETTY POPULAR MODEL TO BUILD.

HAPPY MODELING!!!
MARIO

*****NOW ONWARD TO FINISH MY WHALE BOAT****

I forgot to mention the ground cover is crushed English walnut shells and used diluted white glue to hold in place.

Mario, I just came across your diorama and love it. Well done. Now I have to go back and read your log from the start.

I hope you can get hold of some 1:48 figures to finish it off. I'm on the lookout as well because I intend my Medea to become a diorama (at sea) with a full crew and army passengers. Not sure how that is going to be achieved yet but time is on my side as I haven't even completed the gun deck yet!

Jim, Shota, Ian, and Rich,

and my sincere apologies for a very late reply!!!

Now it has been a while since I posted anywhere, for that matter. This year has been a very long and rough year for my family and me. Things have calmed down some. And I am just now getting back into doing some enjoyable things without the guilt you might say.
