Foresail completed and attached to the ship..

The work on main sail picks up now... by attaching reef lines to the sail. I use a white glue for reef lines.

Tiny line of a glue..

Flattening glue with a "special tool"

and speed drying with a heat gun..

Areas around earrings and clews are strengthen with a drop of CA.. I am using a cotton line for clew seizing which will get darken by adding a CA glue, which ends up being interesting detail.

Now the sail is ready to accept the Christopher' Red Cross sign..

I have "glued" a cross to the sail but experienced some issues with iron, etc so did not quite like the end result and decided to lay a layer of red paint on top of the printout. The good thing is that printed area can serve as a very good foundation for paint and provide border and no much bleeding (if the hand is steady); there are few spots that need touch up but it looks to me ended up in better result.
Still struggling to find the way to eliminate gloss from the original sticker (below on the picture) which bothers me more that small amount of colour bleeding ..

So I might covering SM sails as well with a layer of red paint...

The following set of photos are mainly for myself, as a refresher how to saw bonnet on the sails... but grab them all if you find them useful. I know, some time down the road if I have to do the similar work, this will be my small how-to...

The pictures are in order how certain steps are performed... You might find some other way to do the same stuff but these worked for me ok..

And like this to the end of the sail... once I reach that point I will drop few more pictures..

Available from Amazon Italy. There are several excellent books on model making and general sailing ship. Sadly mortgage size postage kills it for me.

Getting there... some rigging details for main sail..

I have made rope coils ahead of time for this model; next time will try different approach, actually adding sail rope with coils on almost empty deck, while the ship is not busy with other details... will see how that goes...

This time, I made few rope coils, and added to the rigging line before starting rigging; the small cloth pin holding coil high from the deck. Once rigging line is secured to the deck, I slide the rope coli down and glue to the rigging line...
