Deagostini Victory 1/84 plus extas by Maltbyguy

Hey Andy,

That looks really good so far. Please take more photos. I think it's great!

Regards
Günther Ship-1

Good afternoon Andy. It is a huge task planking the HMS victory and it is looking good. The cut out is that part of the kit or are you getting adventurous :D. Either way it will make for interesting viewing. Cheers Grant

Hi Grant
Yes the cut out is an optional part of the kit definitely not adventurous

Hello everyone I am sorry that I haven't been on line for a while but Victory has been progressing though very slowly
The planking is now completed and the whales fitted. All went quite well and I am reasonably satisfied. The stern galleries were next to be fitted using the parts from woodysmodelworks.co.uk
I am now starting to cover the hull in copper tiles... ever wish you hadn't started something????
A question for the more experienced.. do I cut the tiles to a point ? Or do I cut to a square and let them into the other tiles ?
As usual any comments or criticism would be great
Andy

Some time ago I bought the Victory from Ebay for what I thought was a good price. I then purchased some additional items from Woodysmodelworks.co.uk to hopefully make it more interesting.
After building the Blandford I wanted another POF kit and so tried to sell the Victory to help pay for my next build but didn't manage any offers
So here is my build of the Victory
It starts off similar to most POB kits the only difference from other kits is that the frames are not glued until the deck is fitted. This means that all the bulkheads are loose and can be fitted into the deck slots and then glued
This is not something I have seen before but looks to be a good way to build. The hull is then planked in the usual way.
The magazine suggests building liferafts and guns before this but they will be left for MUCH later
As usual comments and criticisms are all welcome
Andy

Hi Andy I have just brought this ship from eBay and was just wondering if you built stage by stage according to the magazines or went of plan and built like you would with a kit like occre if that makes sense. Regards Mark

Hi Mark I hope you enjoy building your Victory
I have sort of built mine in the order of the magazines but one advantage of having them all is that you can swop the order. There is no point in building the cannon that is in issue 1 until you need it .. possibly months down the line
I also cheated slightly and downloaded the instructions from the Caldercraft Victory they are available from their website.
I also have The New Period Ship Handbook by Keith Julier who builds Victory in quite some detail
Good luck with your build. Any questions please get in touch
