About the stairs, from online images (see below), looks like they have ,"or they had" handrails. It could be very easy for me to cut the handrails, but I decided to leave them. Definitely I didn't like the stairs provided by the kit. I took the liberty to decide what I liked more. Besides, the kit is "far away on originality" on many important details.

Your build is looking great! I have a question as I approach the second hull planking. I'm not sure how to approach the top row since it isn't a straight line. Do you curve that top row to match the top edge, and then each succeeding row has to follow that curve instead of a straight line?

Hi all !! Since my last posting, I finished the 2nd planking. For that, i used the 2x5 mm left from the 1st planking, instead of the dark brown planks provided in the kit. I will explain why later. With the thickness sander I reduced its thickness to 0.5 mm. Then, with planks that I have from...

No I meant attaching wooden hand rails to the metal hand rails, But I concede that you are right (Proved by the photo)
 
Update

Time to built the boats. The kit calls to use the 0.5x5 mm planks. I found them too big. I can cut them half, but decided another easier approach because the hull was going to be painted white.

I used glued strips of brown paper, so the floor will be brown. I submerged the strips on the disolved glue with water first. Then I carefully placed the paper over the frames and carefully extended it with the help of a brush soaked on the glue and my hand :-). Then, with a hair dryer, I dried one side and moved to the other. After I glued the strips , added a coat of wood filler to each side. In between aplications, I used the hair dryer. Then i sanded and filled until an acceptable shape was acquired. Last step was spray paint.

In the past I did the full first planking of the Artesania Latina kit Red Dragon (not the one i posted at SOS. It was 30 years back). Then I did the second planking with the walnut strips,over the dried shaped paper. It was 100 times easier. I learned that from a model hobby monthly subscription.

Sorry I have to delete the previous posting. Here we go again. Below is a picture of the Artesania Latina Red Dragon Kit that the 1st planking was done with paper and the 2nd planking with the walnut strips provided by the kit.

When I learned that a model ship competition will be taking place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I only have 1 month to built an acceptable ship to enter in the competition. I have that kit and to hurry the built I decided to use the paper technique I learned reading a monthly subscription magazine focuse on the hobby.

There were 2 big categories Scratch building and Kit building models. I had 2 Scratch models built previously, but they weren't done in a level high enough so I went for the kit. My first 2 builts following the monthly subscription model journal.

I won the 1st place on the Kit building category.

Now the funny part : Only 2 kits were presented HAHAHA HAHAHA :-) :-) . The other kit was really poorly made

Concerning the Scratch built category, plenty of model ships were presented. Some masterpieces very impressive. Unfortunately I lost the pictures during all my relocations from country to country (Argentina to Belgium and then USA).

On one of my parents trips to visit us , they packed my ships and brought it with them here to US.

This competition took place in 1996, 30 years ago. Is written in the medal I got for my first place HAHAHA

A question for the collective mind regarding the smal boats on Endurance. Shackleton mentions three boats - subsequently named James Caird , Stancome Wills and Dudley Docker. On all the pictures I have seen I have never seen more than three , although in various positions/ inboard/ outboard. Can anyone reliably confirm that Shackleton actually had four at any point?

BTW love the redesign of the steering gear!
