I took this on the way up. You can hear the sound of the steam even at our campsite more than 2km away.

This is Mt Shinmoe from the top of Mt Karakuni. Shinmoe means New Burning Mountain, and you can see why. It is still off-limits.

That looks like an adventure! Wow, I can even see sulphur deposits in the photos. Didn't it smell really foul, like sulphur? I imagine you have to be really careful where you step so you don't slip, right?

Yes! We could smell it in many places. For me, it’s a very nice smell because it’s the smell of hot springs! I love Japanese hot springs!

And if you're here for adventure (@DerezzedDragon ), this was our hike around the rim of an old volcano yesterday:

At least the clouds prevented us from seeing how far we were going to fall if the wind blew us over the edge.

Wow, that's tough going! Not only is there wind, but fog too. Respect, but you have to be extremely careful. Here in Europe, hikers fall to their deaths in droves because they are reckless and don't stick to the hiking trails. But I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful and fantastic holiday!
