Fife-Scottish Fishing Vessel, Amati_Victory Models 1:32

Milton is three or four days old since building in the Caribbean and Gulf. Forecast to be a cat 3-4 when it makes landfall around Tampa which also puts me in the bullseye although I'm not right on the coast but just a little further inland.
Be careful, and stay safe.

Well, this sucks big time. One step forward and four steps back. I thought I had sanded the hull pretty well.....NOT
First coat of Danish Oil and glue spots popped out. Not sure what I can do about this side however the other side is going to get a (Hopefully) thorough sanding and inspection before applying any oil.

Time for the pizza to be delivered.....no soda. Instead I think I'll pop a cork on a bottle.

Judicious use of a scraper (rounded scalpel?) might remove the residue followed by some feathering sanding. Danish oil is easily patched.
Thank Paul,
I used scrapers but apparently not enough . I have made small scrapers from single edged razor blades which fit between the rub rails and work quite well.
Hopefully I won't see white wood which will mean I went through the second layer of planking.....

Good morning Ron. Hopefully not…… it doesn’t look bad in the photo’s however I know that feeling when as the builder that tiny flaw always catches your eye. Nobody else sees it but…..
How are things with you guys after the hurricane? I followed the news and Helene and Milton certainly gave Florida and South Carolina a smack. Cheers Grant

Thanks Grant,
I had only minimal damage however, lots of neighbors had severe damage. Lots of roofs and carports destroyed.
As to the tiny flaw it’s actually worse to the eye than the camera caught. If I can’t correct it and the other side comes out ok I can always have the worse side towards the wall

Well, you know what they say 'For better or worse' I reworked the danish oil portion of the hull. It's far from perfect however, I'll live with it.

Gillette needs to market various widths of their single edge razor blades. They make great scrapers especially cut down to fit between the rubbing strakes.

Well, not much to show for progress however I did Get some 'ants' blackened in preparation for rigging.

Also have all the masts prepared.
Although the rigging for this vessel is very minimal it's also my least favorite part of the construction process. So if I don't elect to display it as a ship caught in a hurricane and 'de-rigged' by the wind I'll plow ahead.
Probably be six months but we'll see. At least I don't have cannons to contend with.
