"Flying Cloud " by Mamoli - kit bash

It's coming along nicely with great detail... I like the rudder assembly.

I look forward to the next group of pictures. It will be much easier to move them directly from your phone.
Thanks. Much more reliable going directly from the phone. Thanks for keeping up and the encouragement!
Jim as well. And by the way, Jim, I recently took another long look at your Grand Banks dory. What a beautiful model! Once again proving that it needn't be a17th or18thc. grand man o' war to be a spectacular model. Prosaic little work horses will do nicely. Just ask Peter Voogt! :D

Looking at all my varied and contradictory sources for the main deckhouse layout, now including the MIT Hart Nautical Collection Flying Cloud profile elevation, I have decided to use that as my basic guide. It appears that Scott Bradner arrived at the same conclusion. If one chooses to go with Bradner's conclusions as to the interior arrangement, or if one places the captain's cabin where Bradner has the cook and steward in the right rear of the deck house, the exterior arrangement of doors and windows remain virtually the same. It also leaves room along the exterior walls for 4-6 water casks. I plan to go with sliding doors and windows and to include molded decorative panels where practicable. I'm learning that there's a lot of shoe leather between the workbench and the drawing board!

Pete! Your Kung-Fu is the best!
Pete,
This "Back to the Future" posting confused me at first. Following chronologically, if it were true, these images suggest you stripped off your lovely figurehead, the entire bow, bowsprit and repainted the top of your hull white. Since that just doesn't make sense, its most likely this is older progress, it's easier to realise that this is older work that's just being shared now. Either way, beautiful work!

You're welcome,
These experiences remind me of Sherman, Mr Peabody and the Wayback machine. Now...where did I park that damn DeLorean???
The "Back to the Future" thing happened with my friend Chuck "The Gavel" catching up on my build log after a hiatus while remodeling a bathroom, then posting a "reply" which picked up the whole megillah and moved it over here to the front of the queue.

Main deck house starting to take shape.

I thought I was going to post latest pictures. But that, among all the other best laid plans is currently on hold due to circumstances beyond my control.

Welcome aboard. You'll find that as the build progressed into the last couple of months it has become quite the co-operative endeavor. I have made a lot of changes to accommodate aspects of a Donald McKay clipper revealed to me by the concerted efforts and research by McKay clipper afficionados who jumped in to help me build a better, more accurate model of Flying Cloud. It involved a lot of do-overs and major adjustments to my thinking and vision of her. In fact, the model that is taking shape on my workbench bears little resemblance to what I originally had in mind, much to my surprise and constant amazement. And, I must say I and it are so much the better for it. Thumbsup :D

Pete
