Yes, the Falconets seam to do the job of taking away the distraction of the Upper Ploop Deck Railing, They are only dry fitted as of now and must be blackened or painted when I add the second pair to the Focal Deck, ENJOY.

Again I thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the Golden Hind. Also for your many kind words and overly nice comments

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have been quite active even though our weather has turned quite cold down around 15F or -15C and along with around 3" or 8cm with a very lot of wind, sure has been the kind of weather to keep ones old bones in the warm Old Ship Yard. This week we tackled a bunch of little chores. We drilled and dry fitted the Bow Sprite and also the Fore Mast. We mounted and installed our Lion Figure Head. We built and installed the three curved pin rails one for each of the Golden Hines Mast. We built and installed the three Lower Lifting Yard Blocks in the Deck close to the Masts. We have also drilled and dry fitted the Pin Rail Figure Heads that do have to be painted as yet before we can install them. Last but not least my Admiral did not like the rope railing around the companionways so we removed all of the rope and replaced it with wood, she is much happier with the new look. It does look much nicer, ENJOY.

Hello Ship Mates

Again I thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have painted and installed the 6 Knight Heads that sit on the end post of the three Pin Railings that at the foot of each mast.We have also blackened the swivel cannons that are on the Upper Ploop Deck. We have also built the mount for the Ships Bell on the After Focal Hand Rail and installed the Ships Bell.

Today's project will be building the 10 or 12 Kervels or the larger Cleats that mount on the ships Outer Bulkheads, these are very tiny, a mere 1/4" or 6mm high, we will be trying to follow those on the Replica Golden Hinds that is docked in Londen England, looks like a challenge as my set of build plans do not show any of this finer detail, not even the Ships Bell, ENJOY

I do thank you very much for your visit to my build log on the Golden Hind. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments. Like Geoff says I am always ready to help out in any way I can to my Ship Mates. I do like to look for different ways to do things, I guess it is just a carry-over from my supervisor job in the plastic industry. I blackened the brass swivel cannons with Patina left over from my Admirals stained glass work in a large pill bottle cap, constantly stirring and when it got black enough I rinsed it good under running water. Letting it dry I gave them a couple of coats of a water-based Varathane, not rubbing off the little bit of flaking that does occur with using Patina. And that is how I did it, hope this helps. ENJOY.

One of neptune joins build log has a blackening agent he use. I should go back and look it up, from one another we can all learn. John has abot 4 decades of Model ship building I think

Yes, I do remember John,s Post on how he makes up his own Blacker, John did send me the directions of just how it is made up. But alas, I have not given it a try as yet, just too many irons in the old fireplace at once, but I will. ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have been rather building and installing those 12 tiny little Kerviel's, we were following those on the replicas Golden Hind that is docked in London, England. We will attach a picture of those Kerviel's on this ship to let my Ship Mates see if we came close at all. We have also built some belaying Pins to fill the three Pin Rail racks that we have previously installed.

Yes, the little Golden Hind is slowly coming together, with a lot of rebuilds, just one of those joys of scratch model ship building. I am still adding the deck detail but the Mast and Yards is fastly approaching.

Yes, our weather is slowly cooling off, down to 32F or 0C this AM, I truly do dread the coming winter, but this I can not do a thing about. So it looks like I will be spending a bit more time in the Old Ship Yard where it is nice and warm.

I have not been browsing the SOS Form hardly at all these last few months, will have to get out and have a look around. Bernadette and I do thank you very much for your good wishes. We do very much appreciate them and we send you along our wishes to you and Maureen and your family. ENJOY

I thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments.

Back in the Old Ship Yard, we gave the little fellows three days off so that My Admiral and I could celebrate our 53thd Anniversary up at a little cottage up on Oxtongue Lake very close to Dwight, in Northern Ontario. We just sat back and sipped Champaign in front of our fireplace and watch about 3" or 7cm of very light falling snow, lots of R & R this trip and we returned back home early yesterday afternoon. The little fellows were a bit anxious to get started in the Old Ship Yard. We installed the two sets of Heads on the Privy deck to the relief of the little guys.We did rework those Kervels as the more we looked at them the more they looked out of place. So we made the Arms longer more like those on the Replica Golden Hind in London, England. We also took away that oversized foot and replaced it with a much smaller strip. We also added a lot of Pin Rails and lots of Belaying Pins, my build plans only showed the one Pin Rail and that was across the Aft side of the Focal Deck and no ships Bell that we did add. To complete our day we did add the two Falconets to the after Focal Deck. ENJOY.

Once again I do thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your many kind words and very nice comments.

Back in the Old Ship Yard since our return from our Anniversary getaway and tying up a few loose ends between putting up our Christmas Home Lighting and leaf chopping on the Garden Tractor we have been pondering our next move. We have decided it was time to add the one deck boat on the Golden Hind. Since our plans gave no exact dimensions on this boat, we have resorted to the drawings in our HMS Bounty book by John McKay for the building blueprints. Strange as it may seem John's drawings are exactly to the size of the deck boat shown on my plans by Harold A. Underhill, looks like we have just lucked out. These are a frame and plank, boat that's really is a build in its self. I will post a few scans of this boat, the frames do have to be inverted to show the other side, ENJOY.

I have started to build her deck boat. Just under 3" or 7 1/2cm, this little boat has but 17 ribs, so it looks like I will be using my magnifier light a lot on this one. It sure appears to be a build in its self, ENJOY.

We will be in our home 41 years this coming March and just to think of a move scares me to death. But I do think it is about time we started thinking about sorting things out and letting go of some old memories.

No, I am not put off with you in any way as I did realize that you had a huge job ahead of you. Welcome back to the Great SOS Form, we all missed you a huge very much and do look forward to seeing you back on the SOS Form much more often now.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I are in the midst of building a build jig for the deck boat that will sit on the forward main deck of the Golden Hind. Golly but this little boat is just like another build in its self. Will try to make a post as soon as we do get the jig together before we add the Keel but with the ribs installed, ENJOY.

Thanks for your best wishes they are very much appreciated. Yes, the little Golden Hind is starting to shine, maybe not authentic but this is how I see such a great little ship that did so much many, many years ago.

Been think of the Blandford cross section build and I do want to start it soon. I do however want to complete the deck boat for the Golden Hind and then I think I will give it a try. Golly, it looks like some of you will be finished even before I do get started. Just maybe that is not really so bad as it does give me a lot of information to follow just in case I do get stuck as that build is all new to me,
