Once again I thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind. Also for your very kind words and overly nice comments.



Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have been rather active this last week building and installing the Ships Channels and mounting the Lower Deadeyes that go along with them. We chose not to use chain links on them as our plans showed a solid steel strap. This being the case and after our HMS Bounty build had a hand of Strobes failures and these are not that easy to repair on a rigged ship. From the looks of things, we will move on to the Ships Mast sand get them cut to size and give building those Crow's Nest a try, Enjoy.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have cut tapered the Bow sprite and dry fitted it to it's home on the Privy Deck. We have also cut and dry fitted the three Lower Mast, we have squared up the tops to receive the Cross Trees, we have built and installed the Cheeks on these three Mast to support the Cross Trees. We have also cut out and dry fitted the three Lower Platforms for the Crows Nests that have yet to be planked.



Bernadette and I pass along all of our Best Wishes and a Verry Happy Christmas and also for an Even Better and Happier New Year to all of my Ship Mates Friends that has made the Form such a nice and friendly place, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have been working away with the three Masts and building the three Crows Nests for these masts. We have glued them to there appropriate Mast and given them two coats of varnish. We have also added Whippings or Bands to the mast and dry fitted them to the Golden Hind. We have decided to give the little guys a couple of days off to enjoy the Christmas Season. ENJOY.

I do thank you all very much for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind over the last year and hope very much that your visits will continue on into the New Year. I also thank you all for your very kind words and overly nice comments as they are truly appreciated by myself and also the little guys.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little guys and I after our Christmas break we went to work on the Lower shrouds. We have Served the full length of all of the Lower Shrouds, not because it is required but because we do feel that they do look so much nicer rather than a naked Shroud so to speak. This did not take that much extra effort and we feel that it was well worth the extra few minutes that it took. We have also joined our Deadeyes Upper and Lower with Lanyards. We were planning on using my Admirals Crochet twine for the task that is a pure white. After we did a couple of these up both my Admiral and decided that the pure white did clash terribly. So this being the case I stripped off a half dozen yards od it and a tea bag and headed to the stove to do the rest, after a minute or so the line had turned to a nice mellow used kind of a color and now we feel that it suits the Golden Hind very nicely,

We did not tie the Lanyards off for good but we wanted to stretch and in a week or so we will return and readjust them and at the same time aline the three Masts. ENJOY.

PS - We did try to upload these pictures but the uploader said that the pictures were to large at 5.08 megs so we resorted to the old image compressor. No trouble at all. The New Form sure looks and works great, just that little detail with the Thumbnail and full-size thing but then again it takes no time at all.

I wish to thank Donnie and his crew for a job well done and much appreciated on this end from an Old Model Ship Builder.

A very Happy New Year to you and your house. Two thing I wanted to comment on. One your choice of heart shaped dead eyes, and I noticed you seized all of your shrouds. Is that typical of the era? As always beautiful work.

I thank you very much for your visit, for your very kind words and comment. The heart-shaped Deadeyes are shown on my build and can be seen on many other ships of that era.

I Seized all of my Shrouds just because I like the look of them and being that short it took almost no extra time.

My Admiral, Bernadette and I would like to thank all of the Model Ship Builders here on the SOS Form a Very Happy and Procurators and even Better New Year. I would like to thank all of my Ship Mates for all of your visits to my build log on the little ship the Golden Hind.

Also for all of your Very Kind Words and Overly Nice comments that you have given me over the last year. For all of your very helpful hints and suggestions that make this such a great and friendly place to build one's model ships.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the Little Fellows and I have tackled a number of tasks this last week. We have built and dry fitted the three Lower Mast Caps, Installed the Bowsprite and secured its Gammoning. We have built and installed the Fore Mast Brace along with its upper serving and its Mouse. We have also added the two triple Deadeyes for securing and its adjustment.

We have also cut and Tapered the three Canter mast, and upon looking at them after dry fitting the Centre Fore Mast both my Admiral and I could not believe just how Hideous the Fore Mast appeared, even though this is the Rake of this Mast from my build plans from Harold A Underhill. So low and behold yesterday the Little Fellows and I stripped all of its lower Shrouds and pulled the mast, we then repositioned it to be more in line of the Mane and Mizzen. We then cut and retied the Lower Shrouds and attached there Lanyards.

Even though this may not be very authentic to the Golden Hind it sure does look a whole lot more realistic than that forward sweep of the Lower Mast and is much more pleasing to our old eyes. ENJOY.

Thanks for your visit to my build log. For your very kind words and overly nice comments. The little fellows and I are struggling along installing those tiny little Futtock Shrouds. They are a challenge as they are so tiny and trying to keep them neet as possible is a task, ENJOY.

Thanks for your visit to my build log. and also I Quote you Have a look at tour build logs and if you see a < or > in the test we want to clean it up. If you spot any looking let us know. I have not run across any of these but it is probably just my old eyes are not as sharp as they once were.

I have looked at my signature and have corrected them, the links to my build logs seem to be working ok from this end but please double check these for me. Thank for bringing this to my attention, ENJOY.

Back in the Old Ship Yard the little fellows and I have spent a lot of our time on research this last week out plans are not a much help at this point as they show the all three mast as just one piece, no three sections or Mast Caps. We have added the upper section to both the Fore and Main Mast, along with there Caps and installed the top three Caps and drilled these masts for the Flags that will come later. We have built and installed all of the Stays, Served the top sections and added the Eye and Mouse to them. The upper Fore Mast Bowsprite Stay we have just tied it to the end of the Bowsprite as we are unsure yet just how we will address this little problem.



Yesterday our temp was up to around 50F or 10c and our snow was just about all gone but today the temp has dropped to 17 F or -8c with blizzard winds and it is no place for an old seaman to be.

The little fellows and I have been working on the Upper Shrouds, tying on the Deadeyes and attaching them with Lanards. So now it looks like we have come to those dreaded Rat Lines. We did make up a little gig that we got a number of years ago from an Old Ship Mate Mobbsie that works quite well for us, will attach a picture of it in my next post, ENJOY
