Bummer. These sorts of weather situations are just so disruptive. I feel sorry for all the people impacted. Stay safe and don't try to cross these rivers on your bike...
I live for that sort of thing. Bring on the cannons!Note to self: never, ever start a model with canons on it.
my curse is PE parts. Yes they embelish the model, but are they ever a pain to work with.I live for that sort of thing. Bring on the cannons!
lol
Good thinking Johan!Note to self: never, ever start a model with canons on it.
That's not just rain, that's a torrential downpour. Wishing you good luck with cleaning up.
take care of yourself![]()
Take care Grant. I love all the "old" Dutch names of all the places.....
I hope the situation gets better and stay safe!
Good morning. Thanks Guys. We have had some really sunny spring days so hopefully get back to normal. The good thing is we won't have water restrictions this summerBummer. Absobloodylutely no canons on a model I build, no sir!No cannons on a ship, Johan?
However, when it comes to making hordes of them - a definite no-go!
That looks crazy Grant. Yep, no chance the reservoirs will be low.
Good morning Heinrich and Ken. I’m on a small wine farm in the Karoo (Mymering) - took the company Landrover and went on a wine tasting holiday with the family. The rain has turned a very arid part of SA into a green landscape (I’ve never seen the small Karoo so beautiful Heinrich) with normally dry river beds flowing, purple flowers etc. A few detours due to washed away bridges but beautiful. The farmers are happy as the water table (they use mostly irrigation from ground water) is up for another 5 years or more - so some good news from this. Cheers GrantThat is indeed a substantial amount of water to have fallen in only 10 hours and over such a widespread area. While the "times" certainly "are a changing", hopefully water restrictions will be a thing of the past for a while.
@RDN1954 No cannons on a ship, Johan? I won't go that far. Sometimes the cannons can be made into a real feature if they are somewhat out of the ordinary (take the WB's three-wheeled gun carriages for example). However, when it comes to making hordes of them - a definite no-go!

Good morning Johan,Tobias and H. Yep some of you your have more intelligence than myself, First the Victory and now a Xebec- I am clearly a fool for cannonThat's why I'm sticking to frigates at most, and there are too many of them already.![]()
True story John. I have a Feeling the world is going to have to get used to these crazy weather patterns ……Cheers GrantGrant, will go back to catch up.
YIKEs these, now common, international weather monstrosities are so disturbing. Fires, floods, torrential rains have mostly not seen in hundreds of year
What the hell.......
Regards,
That is wonderful news. I always think of the farmers in these very arid areas.Good morning Heinrich and Ken. Good morning Shota. Thank you very much it is appreciated. Each of my cannons are made individually from scrap wood I have available. (It is just soooooo expensive bringing supplies to SA). Non of the cannons are identical but any deviation is small and hardly noticeable. The most important part is to get the wheel axels and trunnions in the same place. I am careful with these measurements when I cut these into the carriages. I don’t have a jig other than to align the carriage. The alignment of the barrels is used placing the quoin in after I have rigged them so they are as close to horizontal as possible See post #952. Cheers GrantWell done Dear Grant
it looks very beautiful, like soldiers in a ceremony.
Iwill be happy to know how you manage to ensure that they are accurate and the same throughout the entire length of the platform?
