Fake or not these sheaves look very real.Good job Grant

Good afternoon
Great to see the 'big picture' - what a wonderful looking ship Grant!
I fully agree with Paul - very good overall appearance (and off course also the details)

Thanks Paul and Uwek. She is getting there. Loads of detail work on decks still to come and of course touching up and getting finishes right.

I fully agree with WojtaaS, they look like the real ones. Great job, Grant!
Thank you. Unfortunately I can only claim my fake sheaves to the Mizzen mast as this came with just a few holes. The main and foremast are sheaves as per the kit.
Cheers Grant

Good afternoon.
The main and foremasts - as per kit instructions. I had to reduce the base of the main mast to fit into my blunder when I switch the Mizzen and Main mast brackets in the frame of the ship.

Pics of whole ship with masts:
THE MASTS ARE NOT SEATED : these will come out so I can finish the deck furniture and cannons.

I am hoping that with Matt Poly the mast colour comes closer to my deck…they are a bit light right now. They are both Lime so should do.
That’s my cannon break over….:)
Cheers Grant
I love these general pics, they're showing a well crafted Xebec with beautiful details.
(And by the way, Murphy was, is and will always be your companion.)

Good morning
Awesome results with all your lower mast Grant.
Thank you kindly Daniel

Thank you Johan. Yep Murphy and those modelling gremlins….got to love them.
Cheers Grant

Good morning Johan. I was waiting for that one as well. ROTF. The Cazador kit design has a similar problem with the swivel cannons being too low to the deck and cluttered by the oars especially on the port side. (I changed my design here completely and also added a fourth cannon). Occre’s oars are secured unevenly on the deck and the port side go over the boom/yard supports. I chose to place the oars symmetrically on the deck from an aesthetic point of view. In battle position the oars are in operation so are not on the deck . Well so my story goes - it is an assumption which suites me;).
Should Grants Xebec go the battle in strong winds with no oars in use then my captain liked the oars here as the crew can lie on the oars for protection against musket shot ROTF ROTF

Evidence of my trip- well we don’t take photos while we riding, could be fun thoROTF. I know Martin had a go pro and maybe he has done some editing. When he sends me these I will post a pic or two. I took 4 photos in totalRedface - some in Knysna Forrest when we stopped for coffee :

Anthony (a crazy Asian- rides like a bat out of hell…) getting his coffee machine out- boils water for 2 cups in 45secs.

Sounds like you had a great adventure on your bike trek. Alas, now it’s back to the little adventure. BTW you new set of oars and the masts, and the cannon carts looks great.

Good morning Shota. The bike trip was one of the best I had- so much fun. Thank you for your support with my little build. I appreciate it. Cheers Grant

Masts done, looking good... I only found the head of the masts a bit short and too wide....
Good morning Peter. I also found them a tad wide and shaved 1mm off (not the Mizzen) from the kit. I did not change the height. Thanks for your support and now I must make more cannons- man these take foreverROTF. Cheers Grant

really the only part of ship modeling that I didn't (don't) like...
Making the first one was super fun…figuring out how to scratch build it, how much detail to add and with what resources in my yard, the second one still a novelty, third not so much etc etc….now “I have to” with 10 to go. I don’t do “have to’s” very well ROTF Cheers Grant

Looks to me like your "have to's" are every bit as good as your "to's" Grant. :D

Good morning. Just making more cannons. Cape Town and surroundings had some hectic flooding on the weekend- many bridges down, roads closed and people displaced from homes. We have had a crazy winter : Videos too large to post so screen shots:
