This is where I think the "flaw" is in your plans. Much sanding required, risking sanding through the planks with subsequent filler application, plus more sanding, I don't like that one bit. The less sanding required the better, based on personal experience with my Bluenose build.

Good morning Johan...Must be the South African Dutch influence in me. ROTF. I agree. The risk of over sanding is very prevalent, however as I'm progressing its looking better and better to take the rabbet method. Slowly slowly catch this monkey. It may well work.

Good morning Daniel. I agree with you. Theoretically the method I'm using is simple. The risk factor is getting the angle correct to keep the flow line of the planks into the rabbet. HA ha, in this hobby I have found what seems easy mostly turns out to be a challenge. Lets see. I have my swear jar readyROTF. Cheers Grant

To be honest, I severely underestimated the rebate and subsequently didn't pay sufficient attention to it while I still could.
Result: rapidly filling bad word years and a lot of tedious rework.
 
Good evening. Nothing to add just….sanding……more sandingo_O…

An old pic of something I forgot to show: I made the cabin door. I am not using the metal cast parts of the kit. Walnut frame and sapele veneer cut to 3mm inner. I lined the cabin bulkhead with Sapele veneer as I did not like the way the kit lined the bulkhead.

I lined the lower bulkhead with a 2x2 mm to finish it off.

More sanding to go…..

I clearly did not fair the Occre reinforcements enough to get my Rabbet working properly. The veneer will flow nicely into it now….well it appears so.

I am very happy tho as all my changes are strong and the lines for the outer layer are looking good so far.

This UGLY will be transformed in SEXY:…hold your breath.ROTFROTF

O yes, this is so U.G.L.Y., Grant. No, just kidding. Her base is good, with some ‘cosmetic procedures’ she will definitely be fine and sexy. :)

Well, this looks a lot better than I thought it would.
I think we'll have to agree to not use @Dean62 's vocabulary anywhere, apart from his own blogs; way to confusing for us, mortal shipwrights...
While the stern does look good, your pictures don't have sufficient detail to say anything about the keel and the bow, so I'll wait for the transformation from "in-work" to "sexy".

Good afternoon Johan. It is Ugly, to use the vocabulary, but the lines are exciting me. It is the way I build. It’s the end result which counts for me- how I get there…well that is another story. I definitely see many fellow modellers cringing ;). If we don’t see it it can be horribly ugly ;).
