Good morning Ron. Thank you kindly. Cheers GrantGrant,
Just catching up on your build log. Stunning work sir!
Good morning Johan. Thank you. That would be an awesome thing to do, our two Xebecs displayed together. One from the master (@Ptèr ) and the studentsWas quite confused, not receiving updates on your Xebec. Shouldn't have worried; progress has been made regardless. Your attention for detail does wonders, it's adding authenticity to the model.
Too bad SA-the Netherlands is a rather long and very expensive trip; would love to see your Xebec next to @Ptèr 's Xebec coming september 30th in Amsterdam...
Student surpassing the so called "master" in this case....Good morning Johan. Thank you. That would be an awesome thing to do, our two Xebecs displayed together. One from the master (@Ptèr ) and the students. Cheers Grant
Good morning Peter. I have only made the one under the stairs so far. These take a while and are rather fiddly. I am going to have to sit down and start these in earnest soonStudent surpassing the so called "master" in this case....
I like to be a forever student and never stop learning btw.
It would be awesome indeed, besides having a nice chat and enjoying a braai.
How's the rigging of your cannons going?![]()
Good morning Peter. It does the same to me. Thank you for the compliments. Cheers GrantGood morning Grant. Besides there is something wrong with the alerts on the SoS, still find your log and have to reed some pages. But that doesn’t bore me at all. Nice little (3D) ad-on’s and nicely rigged cannons.
Regards, Peter
Very clean and tidy Grant. I might even rate you able seaman with a clean deck like that![]()
Ditto to Happy Birthdays for all.
A very neat deck, clean and tidy, ready for public tours. BTW the oars look great also.
Jan
Good morning Mark, Heinrich and Jan. Thank you. The upper deck came out so cool. I did the lower deck the same and for some reason it doesn’t match the upper one. It maybe because I had to bend a lot of the deck planks and with the two different heights a lot of manipulation was put onto the main deck. I quite like how the oar colour came out, almost a little weathered.I was also going to the say the same, Mark! That deck looks super clean with the oars so neatly in place. Grant, please convey my birthday congratulations to the family!
Good morning Peter. Thank you. I am happy with the oars and how they look on the ship. I am trying to make the fittings, cannons etc a little natural and not “model like”. The oars do seem a little large. I’m going to make a figure to scale and see how they look. I’m not redoing them though. Cheers GrantHapy birthday and best wishes for Arlene, Ashtyn and Justin! You made the best out of the kit parts for those sweeps / oars. Making these things are a bit labor intensive. 1 down, 1 to go!
Good morning Johan. We have had a great few day. I’m bankrupt now after so many birthdays all at onceHope you made beautiful memories with your wife and kids.
Grant, hi.Good morning. This morning I completed the stairs for the quarter deck. My modifications:
- added the railings.
- Made the stairs a lot thinner and less bulky than the kit stairs. Of course I broke the SB stairs while doing this. Typical Grant, especially as I have no more resources for redo’s now.

It's money, Grant, does not outweigh a few great days...Good morning Johan. We have had a great few day. I’m bankrupt now after so many birthdays all at once.
