Thank you, Dean! That is the perfect photo to show the Admiral what she needs to do! Ooh boy, if she reads this, I am sleeping on the couch!

Yep this is good. A lot of guys(myself included) used overhand knot on the starting shroud. While easier to start off it does lacks the final finish. Cheers Grant
Thank you, Frank - it is much appreciated.View attachment 354776it should be like this
Oh boy, right over left or is left over right or is it …..
That is correct for a real ship, however depending on the scale of the model, and how much work you are willing to do, it is often done as I showed. Up to the modeler.View attachment 354776it should be like this
Hi Dean. Totally agree. I have seen models doing it authentically and it is superb. One also has to consider the style of all the previous rigging. I learnt as a rookie that attempting to rig 100% accurately at scale is almost impossible (some guys do pull it off tho) and I kept a style running though from start to finish- certainly not historically accurate. Heinrich has a secret weapon with Anna tho so who knows . Oooh the admiral will enjoy that! Seriously though, the ratlines will be done as per the @Kolderstok instruction manual. So far, I have stuck to the rigging instructions, and it has paid off handsomely - so, no "fixing" something that ain't broken.Hi Dean. Totally agree. Hello Enrico, Yes, Congratulations to your flagshipOooh l'ammiraglio si divertirà!

Hi Enrico, just for informationClose up of the immaculate shrouds on the Zhdan model - again showing definitively that NO chain plates (rusten) were used.

While his ratlines also show the layout as per @Frank48 and the @Kolderstok instructions.

Whether Anna and I can emulate that, remains to be seen.
Thank you very much, Frank. I will simulate the above by doing it like in the Kolderstok manual. Doing it exactly like in the picture above, is going to be almost impossible. At the narrowest point of the main shrouds, the total distance between the two outer lines is only 7mm.
Now I am truly humbled, Daniel! If I had managed to do that, I am truly glad that I have persevered. At times, there were moments that I seriously doubted the "wisdom" of pursuing what seemed to be an impossible quest, but your comment has validated everything! Thank you for that, my friend!Hello Heinrich, I thoroughly enjoyed your summation to date on the WB. You have brought a 425-year-old ship to life in my mind.

The Admiral scrutinizing the job at hand. This picture also gives you a good indication of the size of the WB - she is tiny!
I agree. She is taking the rigging very seriously and is a stickler for detail. She has already told me though that the next build has to be in a considerably bigger scale so that I wouldn't need her help and could do everything myself!A master at her craft...
Hmm. You can paddle a kayak on your own - but its more fun with a friend. Just saying...I agree. She is taking the rigging very seriously and is a stickler for detail. I absolutely agree, Paul. It is so nice to have someone to share the whole process with. That lends a dimension to the build that I wouldn't change for anything in the world.Hmm. You can paddle a kayak on your own - but its more fun with a friend. Just saying...
