HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Dear Friends

I have returned to work on Monday so it's all back to basics. However, that has not stopped me from playing around with a few ideas.

Re-reading my conclusion again, I just feel that I owe it to myself and to everyone who has so loyally followed along during this build, to facilitate the construction of De Mercurius according to the Russian sketches. I purposely used the word "facilitate" as it does not necessarily mean that I will be the person building the ship.

My challenge though will be to find someone (I obviously have my preferred options in this regard) who can convert the very rudimentary drawings to ship plans, a kit manufacturer or individual (I obviously have my preferred options here as well :)) who would be willing to create a "kit" for the model (once-off) and then of course someone who would be interested in such a build.

Now to bring this idea to reality.

Oh my. Another challenge awaits you (and us lurkers) ;)

I think this is a more of an organizational challenge, Ron. The main thing is that I am not sure at this stage if the sketches that I have will be sufficient to create actual drawings that can be used to construct the hull. The drawings that I have of Captain Naumenkov will be sufficient, but I am not so sure about the accuracy of those.

You're a genius Heinrich!

I'm not so sure about that, Daniel! But I do want this ship built and built to the highest possible standards, so let's see if we can get a buy-in from the really talented people on the forum.

Great plans Heinrich, now get someone to work them out. ;)
Dear Peter. Behind the scenes @Kolderstok Hans and I have been talking and he is taking a look at the drawings. The main problem is that the drawings only show six or seven bulkheads/frames so the top view drawing has to serve as guideline to add more frames. This s a long and complicated process, so I am leaving that up to Hans in his own time.

In the meantime, there is a new addition to the household.

Let me introduce you to "Strider"! He just followed me home after school, liked what he saw and decided to stay! At only 4-5 weeks old, it is really like having a baby in the house.

Looks like a strong character - I fully believe your words -> He decided to stay and he will decide how long

You are right, Uwe - he has a strong will of his own, even at this young age!
