HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Nope. Those were the times I was walking home from the teaching centre where I used to teach. That was a regular finishing time for me with classes until 11 pm. :)
Long hours for you Heinrich. No wonder you have developed the habit of never seeming to sleep, especially during ship construction days or is that nights? Sleep
Hello Roger. That is a very sharp observation and is indeed one of the reasons why my sleeping habits can best be described as "irregular"! :)

Stay green my friend. Amazing use of technology.Thumbsup
Thank you Ron! I try to be as safe as I can - I don't travel and in my leisure time, I am building ships. :) A school like this though, always has a certain element of risk as there are so many variables.

Hello Dear Friends

This morning I received the following message: "School students and teachers need not report to school today". Obviously, while the authorities are awaiting the results of yesterday's tests, they did not want to take any chances. So after I posted my homework on the class groups, I could carry on with my research on the Willem Barentsz. And what little gem I found that I just have to share with you!

Some years ago there appeared a series of children's books on Dutch Heroes - and yep ... you guessed it ... Willem Barentsz is among them. Unfortunately, the book is no longer available and I could only find five illustrated pages (all in Dutch of course) which I have translated for you. (for our Dutch friends, I have kept the original Dutch as well).

So without further ado, let's continue ...

And with the pre-amble now out of the way, let me introduce you to Willem Barentsz the Second.

The series is called Dutch Heroes and the title of the book is "The World is White". - Suzanne Wouda.

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

So how big will Willem the Second be in scale with your little ship?
Fair winds.. Ed
I actually wondered about that myself Ed!:) A normal mouse is between 8 - 11cm (3.93 inches) in length. So on a scale of 1:50, that would make it 0.0786 inches or 0.2 cm! So we will just have to imagine that Willem is somewhere on the ship. :D

I too trade sleep for hobby time...Admiral thinks I am crazy! But the only time I have for hobbies, is in the evening...when I should be sleeping....lol! ;)
Hi Dean. yep ... true story. And even after I have gone bed, I still lie awake sometimes, contemplating my next move or thinking about some challenging part of the build I might be busy with at the time.

One perk of teleworking from home is it gives me two extra hours not driving to or from work.

So now I can stay up late and work an hour later and still get the sleep I need to get up and work in PJ's in the home office area.
From a modeling perspective, that is certainly an advantage Kurt. It seems I will be doing the same - Covid has struck again!
