HMAV BOUNTY - A “face lift “

Beautiful work all 'round. Nice looking mouse!
I can relate to the "What I feel like doing this morning approach." Thumbsup ;)
Thank you Peter. It is a good approach which keeps the fun in this hobby.
Really nice rigging work Grant, good to see you pay a little visit to her for an update.
Thank you Daniel. She gets worked on quite often like when I’m waiting for glue to dry on the Enterprise etc. however it is a little here and a little there approach. Cheers Grant

Great work Grant. It's remarkable the amount of change from when you first started the restoration.

Bill
Hi Bill. Thank you for your compliment. It has been quite the adventure - I have learned more doing this than working from my previous 2 kits mainly due to having to make everything from scratch. The little parts and accessories are the most difficult and at time frustrating. Fun non the less. Cheers Grant.

A quick update :
Here is what the crows feet finally looked like tensioned up and tied off via block and tackle (3mm blocks - I did cheat here as I couldn’t make the loop on the top block small enough)
AI-FI ;)ROTF
Mizzen :

Fore mast:

I could not get the spacing on the mast top even due to the support beams (this happens when you scratch build without proper plans). The symmetry is cool and it looks good, just not 100% accurate. Some more AL-FI ROTF.

The stays did pull up on tension but this was expected at this scale so overall I’m pretty chuffed with these. Cheers Grant

Hi Grant, I'm asking: are you following the Kit or any rigging books? Thanks Frank

That looks very nice, Grant. AL-FI can be very satisfied.:)
Regards, Peter

Although you don't have a proper plan really good work.
And I just learned another word 'chuffed';).
Hi Herman. Thank you. There is an old kit rigging plan which I use and then modify so a resemblance of a plan with plenty of Grants mods is in effect ;).
Hi Grant, I'm asking: are you following the Kit or any rigging books? Thanks Frank
Good evening Frank. I am using the original (very old) rigging plan from Billings. IMG_4776.jpegI am including a lot of extras and corrections to the kit tho coming from my interpretation of the art of rigging. I also use research drawings from various sources - this is the one for my crows feet. IMG_4726.jpegOf course it is changed to make the incorrect holes in my mast top work.
Cheers Grant

That's very tidy, Grant.

I don't understand what the crow's foot is supposed to do though. Is it intended to stabilise the top?
Good evening Smithy. Thank you. I don’t know the answer to that. I will find out.
Fine work, my friend!
Thank kindly Paul

Thanks Peter. It is most definitely. I am a little concerned as I am using it a little too much on this Bounty redo. I don’t think AL-FI was intended to be abused ROTF.
Cheers Grant
