HMS AGAMEMNON 1781 from scratch - scale 1/75

Sorry for causing confusion..... I meant the painting below. I was wondering the provenance or at least is it a modern painting or contemporary?

It looks like it is part of a larger piece and I would love to know more about it and see the entire painting if there is more. The Ardent class continues to be something that is interesting for a future build and the more information I can gather the better. I have all the contemporary drawings in high resolution and a copy of the original 23 page contract but this kind of painting can sometimes be helpful with this kind of detail. The stores lists for any ships of the class would also be helpful but I have yet to find a source. Challenges, challenges......:)

Thanks again

Allan

It's not a painting. the image above is an enlargement of a photo received from Mr. Darch.
More about Mr. Darch and his model, which is my reference, is availlable on writer Julian Stockwin website :
This article and pictures made me want to get involved in this project of construction of hms Agamemnon..

Hi William
I was wondering about the cannon pattern. Your title has Agamemnon 1781 but there are what look like Blomefield guns which, according to Adrian Caruana in The History of English Sea Ordnance Volume 2, page 257, were not introduced until 1787. Do you know if/when she was refitted with Blomefields later in her life, perhaps when she came out ordinary and recommissioned in 1793?
Thank you :)

Allan

Interesting. I soaked a compress in clear varnish and stretched it. Once it dried, it could be shaped and painted. Few people know about uses of this gauze. Nice tryThumbsup

Could you tell us which drawings you used for your project? Thank you

Allan
Allan,
I use the orginal plan from NMGreenwich for the hull lines.
+ book "Anatony of Nelson ship"
+ book "Masting and Rigging" of James Lee
+ book "English Man of War" of Peter Goodwin,
+ photo book of modeler Malcolm Darch's model,
+ book "Nelson's Favorite" of Anthony Deane
+ many information I read on this forum :) and internet pictures found about 64 gun ships...
+ plan from Caldercraft 1/64° as optional information source
Comments from Iutar on Mark's building log are very interresting.

Thanks William. You model is exceptional. :) Hope you do not mind a question. Were there stools for the mizzen on Agamemnon? In addition to the plans for the Ardent class which includes Agamemnon, I looked at other drawings of 64's including Africa 1761, Asia 1764, and Anson 1781 but none of these had a stool. I did find plans of Vigilant 1774 which had a small stool for one deadeye aft of the mizzen channel but it was about 2 feet higher up than the mizzen channel. Different ships, different features at times, but always interesting.
Thanks again.

Hi Allan,
You are right, there is no stool after the mizzen channel on the original plan but I see that on the magority of pictures... if I remove it I do not know how to attach the top mast and top gallant schrouds...
