Hey Iutar,

Attached James Lee's reference:
Where is my mistake? Did I swith the preventer stay collar with the Main Stay?
Is the Main stay collar correct?
I'm confused now....
I can still modify it....

Dear Mark! The ring shown in Lees's drawing on the left is designed to be placed on the stem. The ring shown in Lees's drawing on the right is designed to be placed on the mast. These rings are different!

This is a little confusing, at least to me. Petersson's drawing appears (and I may not be seeing this right) to have the main stay collar going over the bulkhead at the bow and down and around the sprit. As it is based on an actual model I am guessing he shows it as was done on the model. By the same token, Lees states that it led through a hole in the beakhead bulkhead and went under the sprit then secured as can be seen in the model from Preble Hall below. Were both methods used depending on the ship/size etc?

Hello Allan,

I'm even more confused...

I sometimes find contradictions in the literature...but thanks to you, it will all work out!

While Petersson has some good information, as it is based on a single model of a 38 gun ship, I would not use the book for everything without finding confirming information.

I have agian an important question.
Below 2 drawings from Caldercraft regarding the rigging of the Fore mast and bow...
I would like to receive the correct drawings or way to install the Fore-, Fore Preventor and other stays.
